Tracer is an unknown quantity at this point
I carried pistols in my line of work for many years and fought for our 2nd Amendment "Right To Carry" since 1995, we were defeated in the year 1999 in my state of Missouri but came back strong later down the road. Now MISSOURI has the RIGHT TO CARRY!!!

It was not until my wife and I both learned of an older couple, who were killed by a wanted felon some 2 years ago in their hotel room, not far from where we live.

So at that point my wife of many years, wanted to protect herself and get a CCW permit. I started teaching my wife how to shoot a pistol and she and I both applied for our CCW permit several months later. She and I now have the permit to carry our weapons. Hers is a Glock sub-compact model 27 in .40caliber and I carry 2 Glocks, model 20 & 29 in 10mm caliber.

ABsolutely agree.
The gun seems to be an equalizer. Ive noticed I dont have to have 400 'plans' going thru my mind when dogs run up and get aggressive any more. I dont have to worry so much about how Im going to have to perform a miracle to protect my wife and grandsons.
I hope I never have to draw, but at least its an option if something or someone forces me to.

I will say that research is precisely the reason a lot of folks end up deciding to carry. They havent been victims themselves, but it doesnt take long to see the statistics and know that any of us could be victims on any given day.

1. Because it's my right
2. Because a gun is lighter than a cop
3. When seconds count, the cops are minutes away
4. I carry a gun to keep myself and others from being killed
5. Because I can
6. A free citizen should be able to protect themselves and others
7. Because there are real threats out there
8. So I don't have to hate myself for the rest of my life by being caught unprepared when needed
9. It's fun

Originally, when I moved out of IL where I'd grown conditioned to overlook my civil rights, I saw getting a carry permit as a way to carry a gun to the local range on my motorcycle, without being on the wrong side of the law. I could fit a pistol, a few mags, a few paper plates and a staple gun in my jacket, ride a beautiful twisty road to a state gamelands range, tack up my targets, shoot, take down my targets and keep riding . .. . made for some lovely afternoons.

Later on it got to be about all the other stuff . ..

One has only to read the front page of any city newspaper and see all the crime stories, the assaults, murders, rapes, etc. I want to live. If I'm confronted with a bad guy I will not let him have his way with me. I carry under HR 218.

I was pumping gas in Montgomery, Al and these two men were walking through the gas station. They turned in my direction, as if they were going to cut between me and the pump I was using. Fortunately, I was wearing clothing that appeared to be some sort of casual uniform and they changed direction after looking me up and down, not able to determine what I was. Then right after that another questionable character approached me and reached into his pocket and pulled out some gold chains and I think he was asking me if I wanted to buy them. He was stumbling a little and stammering. It was probably one of the most uncomfortable moments in my life. Not that either one was a draw your weapon moment, but I would not of had the option if it had turned out to be. Now for the most common statement, IT IS MY RIGHT....read your constitution!

I will be CC'ing after my B-Day and the reason for it is I was a victim of a violent assault that almost took my life. That day I promised myself I would never be a victim again and that I would never let my loved ones or anyone endure what I have if I am there to do something about it. I feel that CC'ing would be my best option to enforce this promise. Also, as a result of this personal philosophy I am a criminal justice major and as such I will be carrying a weapon then so why not start now and get a leg up on my future peers.

I carry because I had 20+ people that worked for me at one time and found out just how
screwed up people are when things don't go their way and I am to old to fight anymore.

Family Protection at home and when we're going out for the day. Too many nut-cases out there, want to hurt folks, for no other reason than just because they want to.

Stay SAFE out there!

Cheers!

I carry because I tracked down a very bad guy and got him arrested. He knows where I live.

My girlfriend’s ex-husband threaten to kill me in front of the chief of police and sent several threatening calls and text messages. The chief of police suggested I get a gun and learn how to use it as a piece of paper will do me no good. I replied with which one should I carry, my .357, 9mm or .45? She just smiled and said fine.
Like one of the others on here I have been carrying something for many years. I finally broke down and got my CCW three years ago.

Why did I decide to carry? Too old and fat to get away, too young to give up.

Here in south Florida one day my family and i were driving doing our thing, and i guess the car in front of us was taking too long to go and so we honk once and they come out of the car with a bat , hopefully it was daytime and we were able to calm down the person by saying we were just trying to alert him.. but if its night time and the person has had two too many , anything could happen, he could have had a gun and point at us or try to hit us with a bat... so i learned that i need to be protected somehow so in case someone tries to hurt me or my family i will be protected
I already have my cpw - i wish i could re take that picture lol

I donít carry, but will have a CCW this summer because I can legally do so. How much I exercise the right remains to be seen. Even tho if I ever had to use it, and was found innocent in an SD situation, I am more concerned about the civil law suits that come later that could strip me financially, and possibly cause me to loose my house, which has been paid for since 1987. There is a lot of responsibilities involved with CCW. Not something I will do lightly.

There has never been an incident in my life where I felt I needed to have a gun on me, except some encounters with bears and wild hogs in my very young years. In the end, they wanted nothing to do with me, and ran. Over the 31 years of working in the woods since, and countless encounters, I have never actually had the need for a gun. I have even come between a bear and her cubs more than once. They always ran.
