After a gang shoot out at our mall here my wife freaked she realy was afraid to go anywhere public so she supported me getting my CCL. Now when we leave the house she always asks me if I'm packing and we dont leave the house untill I am.

CCW is for all intents and purposes illegal in NJ. There are only 500 non job related carry permits in the state of 9 million. Almost all Armored car guards are retired police. Many counties had to be threatened with lawsuits to allow retired police to get the federally allowed retire police carry permit. In my county if you wish to pass the carry permit test as a civilian the only opassing score is 100 percent. Rwetired police qualify at 80 percent.

My bride of 29 years has her CPL and a Detonics Combat Master to go with it.

A week ago last monday I was sitting at her hairdressers, while she was getting her hair cut, when my cell rang. It was my LGS calling to inform me that my SR1911 had arrived. I looked at her and all she said was "Well?.. go get it!" You have to love a woman like that!

I'm still waiting for my conceal carry permit to come in the mail. At this point, my wife isn't comfortable with me carrying, although she mentioned it wouldn't be a bad idea when I mentioned going to see her family in a much larger city. I think once she gets used to it, it wouldn't bug her. She is concerned about having guns in the house with my 2 year old and one on the way, I just however lock them up at night. I know this doesn't do much for home defense but thats where I am for now.

I voted "other". I have had my CCW permit for over 5 years now, and my wife has never said anything either way about it.

This is an interesting post for me. I started carrying about a year ago. My wife used to shoot when she was younger and does not anymore. When I applied for a permit a year ago she was a bit miffed and gave me the "why are you doing that". My reply was I feel more comfortable knowing I can protect myself and would rather have it on me vs the glovebox. Well a scary thing happened to her brother about a month ago when THREE masked thugs barged into his house after he peaked out of his front door when his dogs were going nuts at 11:30 pm. Luckily her brother yelled at his wife to call 911 and the thugs heard him so the took what they could and left quickly with no one getting hurt...VERY LUCKY! Now I, never pushed her to get her permit but I have been telling her she should. Well after the episode with her brother she wants to...and is going to!

my wife and i both carry. infact she has a tendency top wear her's to bed. she comes home after a night at the PD and crawls right into bed, often wiht her gun and shoes still on. i the ever loving husband will remove her shoes, but i'll be dammed if i try and take her gun away

My wife don't care if I have guns, she just don't want me to buy any more. SO, I have to find a new hiding place

I had to click "Other" because my wife and I actually both just got our CCWs but she does not yet own or carry a gun. We took our CCW classes together and we actually took a basic shooting class before that. It was 4 hours a night for two nights. I bought my SR9c (the first and only gun I have ever owned) before the second night's class so I could use it to qualify on the shooting portion for the CCW. It was nice that they allowed us to do that in cases where we knew we were going to take the CCW class right after the basic shooting. Anyway, my wife hasn't found a gun she wants yet but when she does, I think she is going to get a concealed carry purse so she can conceal the gun. A friend of ours just bought a Walther PK380 and as soon as I can get the wife and that gun to the range, I think she will have chosen her concealed carry gun and then I can click "My wife (significant other) carries also."

it is truly amazing how that works. especially a close call. getting the crap scared out of you has a way of shifting priorities very quickly.

My wife carries also, so she definitely is in favor of it.

My wife and I spend lots of time going into others houses while they're out of town (we're pet sitters, and property managers). A few years back I entered a house and a burglar was standing in the living room. He ran off, but it convinced me I didn't need to die for someone elses stuff! Been a CCW holder ever since. I grew up with firearms, so it wasn't much of a stretch to carry. My wife has never shot, but since we had our first child, she's become very interested in going to the range with me. Then if she likes it she said she'd get the training and a permit. She's been eyeballing my LCP. She says it's cute!

My wife's father carried all the time so she thinks its a natural thing to do. She has a cwp but never carries. I have two nieces that think it should be against the law to have or carry a weapon.
