In my Illinois CCW class we had to use factory ammo for qualification. I used my Ruger LCRx .38+P with Hornady American Gunner 125 gr. XTP JHP.

I didn't need to qualify, or take a class. In Florida, if you produce your DD 214 you get a pass on it.

So, I guess technically, I qualified with the M16 many moons ago.

GP100 357 3". Put all 130rds of various scenarios on target. Often get great comments about this revolver from instructors and range officers. Fun gun at the range, more self defense options on my hip.

Hard to remember scoring, but the CZ was bought because I sold the Beretta.

I used a rented 2" DAO J-frame with skinny grips, 38 special. Hadn't shot it before but I hadn't planned to. Long story. I read that to carry a semi-auto I had to qualify with one & since I didn't own one at the time I planned to rent one for the class. Thought I might buy a semi-auto in the future (done). When I got there they said the law changed so I rented the Smith, being more familiar with revolvers. Qualified no problem but if I'd known that I would have brought my LCR. MUCH better trigger & grip, no comparison. The instructor stared at my target & said "You shot that with that snubby?" Did better than some with full sized semi-autos but to renew my license next year I'll use my SIG P250 sc or LCR.

I assume that we're talking CCW (or CPL as it is called in Michigan). It was either a Sig P-6 or Glock 26. Don't remember for sure. It was 10 years ago. I've had a lot of handguns since then and I'm old.

My CCW class was held at a small range rated for .22 ammo only so the instructor provided guns and ammo. I qualified with a Ruger Mark III Target model. You had to put 15 out of 20 inside the 8 ring to qualify. I put 19 out of 19 inside the X ring. I really wanted the 20th shot so I could go 20 for 20 but the cartridge was bad. I asked the instructor for another round. He looked at my target and said 'Uhhhhh......I think your good!'

S&W 686 6" with 38 target loads at 15' single action.I had to hit the target with 5 shots.

I can't believe they even have a requirement that is so embarrassingly easy.

First time I qualified for my ccw, I qualified for pistol with my para P12' and for revolver with a rented GP100
