CC Insurance

I have a question. I've been CCing for a few years, but does anyone carry the insurance like USCCA, or anything else? What led you to your choice, whether or not you use said insurance, and why?

even though ccw not possible in Nj I still carry uscca for insurance as my homewner's policy specifically states no claims will be paid on a self defense case.

I have Second Call Defense, endorsed by NRA, and insured by Stockton which is underwritten by highly rated Lloyds.

The Why is to protect my assets. Self defense is not accidental, so need separate insurance, and they also have legal sdvice.

CCW is a great responsibility. I hope and pray that I will never have to use my weapon to protect myself or anyone else. But to not be prepared and hope that day will not ever come is ludicrous. I am really close to retirement and have some amazing decisions (where to live, how many grandkids, etc) to make and don't want to see it all go up in lawyers' fees defending my actions because someone thinks they can get what I have worked over 40 years for. I just signed up for CCW Safe.

If you decidde to go with a National CC insurance group, it would be good to know what Lawyers (if anyone) are actually located in your area (or State). You may be better off contacting Lawyers in your area to see if any of them are up to snuff on Self Defense/Gun laws and see if they might accept a retainer.

I decided to go with the NRA version after reading some reviews of the USCCA program...

I still haven't quite decided yet. It's a big decision. At least for me it is.

I am planning on getting something but still have to do my research. Just seems wise to get coverage if you're going to use a firearm for self defense.

I reckon I'm the odd one out here, in that I don't see the need for paying a Lawyer when I haven't, or plan on doing anything illegal.
Self defense is self defense, not a crime.

I know and that's the dilemma I'm looking at. But you know how today's letigious works is. I don't why I would need it either. Looks like a person could go broke buying insurance.

I've been a member of USCCA for around 5 years now, get a monthly magazine which is full of good articles including reviews of Guns and other products like most gun mags. They also do a lot of work supporting concealed carry and the 2nd Amendment like the NRA, without steadily asking for money. I'm satisfied so far just hope I won't need their assistance in a self defense situation.
