What if you knew

I heard this question asked at a Personal Protection shoot years ago.

What if you knew you were going to be involved in a gun fight this morning?

What would you prefer?

1) your favorite handgun

2) An AR-15 type rifle

3) A 12 ga pump shotgun with 8 rd capacity

I'll post the correct answer in a day or two.

The question is really vague........Where am I when this goes down, at home, at the mall, outside with more open ground?

I would use any of the three, depending on where I'm at when it happens.

Unless you have statistics, which would be hard since no two scenarios are the same, I don't see how there is a correct answer. There may be a higher rate of success with a given weapon, but it doesn't mean you'll fail with one of the others.

Part of the answer to this question is the same as the three most important things about real estate.

Location,location,location.

The rest is a math question.

Since this is ruger site i'd bring my Mini 14....like an AR but not as pricey! I feel real good with it. loaded with 60 grain PDX1 hollopoints ! deadly and accurate.
notice that a handgun is a last resort..... no one picked handgun

Outside of being involved in a military conflict. If I "knew" I was going to be in a gunfight in the morning, my first option would be to do everything possible to avoid being in a gunfight.

I would prefer a plane ticket to Hawaii to avoid the madness, of your choices it would be the shotgun. The reality is however it would be a 5 shot revolver because that is what I carry and I would show you my backside as quickly as I possibly could. To me the correct answer is, leave town.

O.K. given that. The answer is to pick the firearm you're most proficient with.

Well if that's all I have to go on, I'm not going to pick the one I shoot the most. I'm gonna pick the one I can do the most damage with per shot and not have to be dead on accurate with.

I'll roll with my shot gun.

The question is facetious, as you never know when you're going to be involved in a gun fight. (with the exception of actual combat) So therefore whatever arm you happen to have on at the time is the firearm you will use. Unfortunately if you happen to be unarmed, then you lose, simple as that.

Handgun. When I shot the guy it would look a little fishy to the police if I had a long gun strapped to my back (even though its legal)
