Where I live in California it is two years and $193. I suppose that may vary county by county.

Price varies county to county in Alabama. Set by the sheriff in each county. In my county you can renew for up to 5 years for $20.00 per year.

Washington State is $53 for 5 years, $25 for renewal. Fees vary slightly from city/county to other cities/counties.

Mainland NY, not the mess in NYC or Long Island, after original processing fees, good for Life or until revoked.

I originally paid about $35 for mine 45 years ago, not a penny since. I moved out of state twice and was allowed to keep my permit, they just typed my out of state address on the permit. There is a $3 purchase fee though for every handgun when you purchase it.

My son had applied for a NY permit, but moved to VA before it was issued. They MAILED it to him in VA, told him he didn't have to surrender it. I know they have really relaxed the permit issue there.

I do know that some counties in NY, on Long Island IIRR, requires a renewal, but not sure of the time frame.
