Concealed carry permit race question

Hey guys I just renewed my concealment permit. fill the application out checked Hispanic Latino on the form I get my picture taken and the sheriff hands me my new card. I look at the new card and told the sheriff officer that there was a mistake on my new card he says what's the mistake I said on the race you have me as white. He said there's no mistake he said if your Latin American and will born and raised here you're considered white. does anyone have a know why they change this or is there a motive behind this change also if I buy new gun and I put that I'm white and the application like they want me to would that be considered that I'm putting false information on the application

wrong answer.

You really need to list the truth or you could wind up with problems.
Couldn't tell you why they did what they did. Could only guess as to why, but the guys not like Joe Arpaio!

Must be related to the incident in Florida where the "White Hispanic" guy shot the African-American thug that was trying to kill him.

You could be like me. I am 1/8th Native American (Chickasaw, Cherokee and a little Choctaw) and 7/8ths Scottish/Irish/Anglo American. So, I am a Caucasian. However, because I have a CDIB (Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood) card, sometimes I am classified as Native American by different entities. I am President of the Board of a Federally Funded Rural Health Clinic that serves really poor folks in this part of the state, and they list me as Native American so they can say they have a minority class member on the Board. When I was the CEO/Administrator of our local Chickasaw Tribe operated Hospital, I was the first ever Chickasaw Indian to be the Hospital's Administrator. Having said all that, I am still a Caucasian on all "official" governmental documents.

Pretty much a standard that 'Hispanic Latino' is not a race.

When you purchase a gun in PA, the background check doesn't go to the Sheriff's office. It goes to the FBI so there won't be a question. Fill out the background check form.
If you last name is Hispanic then check that box so as not to get a weird look from the salesperson.
PA is so easy to get a permit to carry concealed and to walk out of the gun store with the purchase of your choice.

For most ID purposes white includes most other races that are not black. IMO government should not be asking race, it is not relevant. When a person looks at the permit carrier it is usually pretty obvious what the race is.

IMO most of these questions is data tracking of permit holders.

Latino or Hispanic is an ethnic group not a race.

Most Latinos are considered white.

caucasian, mongoloid, negroid, and australoid, as the 4 major races. At least that's what I learned a hundred years ago in school.

In the above link:
"The race and Hispanic origin categories used by the Census Bureau are mandated
by Office of Management and Budget Directive No. 15, which requires all
federal record keeping and data presentation to use four race categories
(White, Black, American Indian and Alaska Native, Asian and Pacific Islander)
and two ethnicity categories (Hispanic, non-Hispanic).
These classifications
are not intended to be scientific in nature, but are designed to promote
consistency in federal record keeping and data presentation.
It is important to recognize that this system treats race and ethnicity as
separate and independent categories. This means that within the federal system
everyone is classified as both a member of one of the four race groups and also
as either Hispanic or non-Hispanic. Consequently, there are a total of 8
race-ethnicity categories, as illustrated by the table below:"

It would seem to make sense you would want to answer the question uniformly.

The same answer every time, and it should concur with their records.

Otherwise, they may start kicking paperwork and approvals back to you.
