Question Ruger SP101 what is a good Holster for CCW

I just bought a Ruger SP101 .357 Magnum with the 2-1/4 inch barrel. I am wanting to get a good holster for this gun for CCW. I am right handed so the 2 questions I will ask is this what is a good belt slide or pancake style of holster and also what is a good IWB holster for the SP101. I will be using this gun for all seasonal use. I realize that not all types of carry work with all weather or clothing conditions. But I am wanting to get some ideas out there from you fine Ruger Forum Members and thanks in advance!!!!!

Another option is the Simply Rugged Sourdough that can be setup with "inside out" straps to be used IWB or without them as a standard pancake OWB holster. I have one on the way for an SP101. Here is a pic of the one I use for my 3" GP100's alongside another JIT slide for same:

I've recommended this holster to many..I've carried my SP101 with it for several years..Holds it close to my side with the belt worn over the holster..Inexpensive too.

#76 Ambidextrous Belt Slide Holster

Glenn

#76 Ambidextrous Belt Slide Holster

I like the option of wearing this holster inside the belt. I'm going to order one right away. Thanks for the tip.

rantingredneck, how do you like the AKJ Concealco vs the Simply Rugged for the SP101?

rantingredneck, how do you like the Don Hume belt slide holster you have a picture of with your SP101? I looked on the Don Hume web sight and this holster is priced very reasonable for a leather beltside holster looks to be very good quality. It was priced with shipping included around $30.00 I thought for this price it looks like a nice holster.

That's kindof a hard comparison to make at the moment as my Simply Rugged for the SP101 does not have inside out straps. I bought it from the classifieds section here. I plan to contact Rob about ordering a set and adding them myself, but I haven't done that yet. I do like it as an OWB holster, though and it compares favorably with my Don Hume. Holds the gun a little closer and tighter, but it slightly less comfortable. I'm assuming as the holster molds to my dimensions with some wear that this will improve though.

I will say that the AKJ Concealco is a VERY nice and very comfortable holster worn IWB. The Sourdough for my 3" GP100 is as well, but not so much as the AKJ. That is an unfair comparison though given the different sizes of the guns.

I love it. Very comfortable and very stable platform. Holds the gun in nice and tight as well. It's hard to beat for the price.

I own two of Robs holsters for my SP and they are excellent holsters. In addition to the Silver Dollar Pancake I also have the pocket protector. Earlier this year I bought a Crossbreed Supertuck Delux and it is an excellent holster for IWB with the SP. I wear it at 4:00 o'clock and forget it's there. It is supposed to be tuckable to allow carry with whatever shirt you are wearing and no sweatshirt, jacket etc covering. You can but on me with the bulk of the SP it looks like I have a tumor on my right hip so I will likely carry in my normal summer manner of pocket carry and use the ST for IWB and the SD for OWB.
