My everyday concealed carry is a Ruger LCR 357. Sometimes I open carry my SR9e. I used to carry a LCP 380 in my jeans pocket or in my purse, but didn't care for the way it shoots so I sold it.

I've been carrying for the 8 years I've lived in Arizona, but just recently decided to get the CCW.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is experiencing a tremendous influx of concealed weapon permit applications, both new and renewal. The applications are processed in the order in which they are received, starting from the date SLED actually receives the application. Processing is taking the full ninety days on both new and renewals. Please know that we are processing all applications as quickly as possible, while maintaining the quality of backgrounds required by law. Your patience is greatly appreciated during this time.
It didn't take as long as I thought. Received it in my mailbox Dec 7th! Not too shabby.

Congrats! Here in Iowa it took a safety course and written exam, was able to do it online. It cost $50 for the course, and $50 for a 5 year carry permit. Local sheriff's office had to do a background check with a 1 week waiting period. Mine comes due for renewal in a little over a year so I will find out then if anything has changed.

In PA, we are a "shall issue" state.
If we pass the criminal background check and do not lie on our application, we get one.
We pay a fee and we need character references that usually need to live in our county.
Details of how long vary by county. Our Sheriff's department takes less than 2 weeks, and we literally get them within days.
We go personally to the Sheriff's office with our application filled out and a check.
They take our picture, and they mail us our laminated wallet card.
In some counties, they require you to pick up your license so there is no chance of theft of it. I noticed in the larger counties (Dauphin which has Harrisburg city) requires the applicant to pick up their license when ready.
No tests required or safety courses required.
If you take a handgun law course or attend a seminar, they will tell you to make sure you know the law and know how to shoot. If you shoot someone, it will come in to question how much you practice etc.
That is about it for PA
Welcome to the CC world!

25 years ago, fresh out of the military, it took me about 3 weeks to get a CCW in FL.

I've seen a few people get them recently in FL, averaging about 3.5 months to get. Assuming it was because all of the new folks wanting CCW because of the current events that were occurring throughout 2016.
