I carry a Colt Detective Special almost the same size and weight. I use a Simply Rugged pancake holster and carry it IWB at about 4'oclock. I prefer straps to clips on my holsters. The pancake spreads the weight out disguises the shape. IWB it doesn't print at all. The gun is a little heavy but using a good belt its not a problem.

I have three holsters for my DAO 2.25" SP. First is the silver dollar pancake (with and without straps). Second, is the Garrett's silent thunder IWB and third the silent thunder belt slide. I like them all!!

When I carried my 2" I used a Fobus paddle holster and loved it. I was wearing it when I got into a motorcycle accident last month(oncoming car turned left in front of me) and the gun and holster stayed safe and secure.
I now have a 3" and the Fobus doesn't hold it in as securely as with the 2". Why I don't know.

I have a 3" SP that has been my EDC for years. I use a Simply Rugged Silver Dollar Pancake holster as an OWB holster at 4 o'clock, or add the straps to it and wear it IWB, still at 4 o'clock. I've been perfectly happy with this combination, but like others have said, maybe the most important part of a concealed carry "kit" is the belt. You cannot wear a cheap Wal-Mart type belt and expect the gun to ride comfortably, not pull at your pants and stay concealed. The bad news is quality leather gun belts can break the bank. The good news is that Instructors Belts do a great job of supporting a holster and can be had for around $40. They can be had in different colors so they do not look out of place at all when wearing jeans, Docker's and the like. The Uncle Mike's version is even cheaper ($30) and works just as well as the more expensive ones.

I've also been reading great things about Alien Ware Holsters. I'm thinking of trying one with a LCR, but I promise you can't go wrong with Simply Rugged products.

Thanks! I think I'm going to try a Simply Rugged holster!

I just got the same gun myself and am working through the same question. My EDC has been either an S&W Shield 9mm or a Springfield XDm 9mm 3.8 Compact.

When I considered concealed carry with the SP101, I initially thought I would only carry OWB because of the added thickness of the cylinder as compared to the flatter pistols. When I put a caliper on the SP101 vs. the XDm, I found that the SP101 was only about 1/8" thicker - much to my surprise. Consequently, I have ordered an Alien Hbrid IWB for it. That is what I use for my pistols.

I am still looking for an OWB, in leather, that will be concealable under a T-shirt. It helps not being thin like you. I have plenty of me hanging out here and there to help make the butt of the gun not so noticeable.

I usually carry mine with one of these. This helps support and mitigate the weight of the SP101 and I haven't found printing to be a problem.

I carry a sp101 3 inch 357 iwb in a silver dollar pancake owb in a Mernickle or a belt slide. Soon ( I hope) I will add a Summer Special to that list. The belts are also by Mernickle. All leather all good (Mernickle very good). Temps here are high 90's low 100's all summer long and yes its still summer here. Humility rums high also feels likes are 7 at 10 degrees above actual. Thats coastal Alabama. Wear loose fitting untucked pullovers year round. Works for me. O, used to carry an compact Colt 45 same way.

My 3 inch sp101 carries beautifully in a simply rugged silver dollar pancake. Got it today. Love it.

I carry my 2" DAO in a RH Desantis Intruder IWB in a 4 O'Clock position with a Desantis 6 shell pouch just forward of it on the same side. When at work, I also carry an LCR 357 in an ankle rig.
