Powder Black MZ and 777
Picked up a pound of the newer Black MZ on Saturday and shot some over a chronograph Sunday afternoon. Thought I'd share. All I used was a dipper and I wasn't 'particular' on the dip other than it 'looked' about the same each time. Anyway, here was the results.
blued ROA, 7 1/2"
40g (V) Black MZ, .457 ball, Rem #11, 902fps, 114 ES, 18 shots
I then loaded up one chamber with the max, Poured MZ in cylinder until full, and pressed the ball home. This got me 1060fps average for 2 shots. I didn't measure what the actual volume was.
Compared to Triple-7
40g (V) 777, .457 ball, CCI #11, 1060fps, 87 ES, 6 shots
Thought I'd share. Accuracy-wise I still was knocking the steel targets out to 70 yards or so, just like with 777....
Oh cleanup of Black MZ was really easy with hot water. there was some crud that I needed a brush for, about 1/4 of the way down the barrel. Easy to remove. That was it.
Oh, and plenty 'smoky' too! <cough> <cough>
