Why?........So I can shoot .451 diameter bullets from a .457 bore. I'm not afraid of BP, I'll stick with that and a .457 roundball as I have several hundred cast for it!

Convenience, I have a few BP's that I converted to cartridge and reload my own 45Long Colt in various loads and bullets, from 200gr up to 300gr.

While shooting cap and ball is fun, I still have roundballs and hundreds of caps and powder along with powder and 30gr pellets I love the cartridge conversion cylinders I use.

Good BP revolver you picked up!

from a .457 bore.
The bore is not .457 ... The bore is a standard .45 Colt bore of .451. The reason for .457 ball is to get a good seal in the throat of the cylinder chamber when pushing the ball home.

Nice Revolver! Lots of smokey fun!

Yuck..... Glad you got it back to 'normal'!. These are so gentle, no need for rubber baby buggy bumpers on 'em.... Even when loaded with max 777 powder under the ball.....

That's pricey but still a good deal for a Ruger BP revolver. Good for you to stick with BP/RB instead of a conversion cylinder. I have a Remington 58 by Pietta that I enjoy shooting and find loading the old fashioned way a nice change to today's modern firearms. That's a beaut of a gun you have there.

Have you checked GB prices? Well over $500.00 for the stainless.

Actually I have seen the prices on the GB site where they are selling between 650-800 bucks; 500 is pricey for me at this time; he got an incredible deal, no argument.
