Yes, it is a newly branded Dick's store that specializes in hunting and fishing. Well, that's the side of the store I went to. I didn't really look around anywhere else.

I was there on Thursday. A nice store, lots of selection. Everything they had was full retail priced. I picked up Winchester large and small pistol primers at $34.99/1,000. I have enough ammo, not a lot, but enough so I didn't buy any. It was nice to handle a few Kimbers and 9mm shield. The killer for me was I live out of state so I couldn't buy a handgun. :-(

Dick's sporting goods used to be in the building but moved a while back to a bigger building in a nearby location.

at the corporate world that is dick's this is the direction they are going, separate and capitalize on the hunting fishing camping, really have what those people want, service that customer.

I haven't gone yet. Traffic on Route 19 was totally jacked yesterday due to the Grand Opening.

Walmarts in the area haven't had handgun ammo for months, so that's not an option. The nearest Cabela's is at least an hour drive.

Hope it goes well for them. As for ammo prices, I think they will come down. I don't think the .38 special price was outrageous.

BTW: At the LGS 2 exits South on 79 I scored a 50 round box of Aguila 38 Super for $29.95; not bad.

Forgive my ignorance but is this thread about Dicks or Field and stream, or are they both the same? If Field and stream is dicks owned and operated and they come to my area I will give them a look.

Jack.

Jack, it is owned and operated by Dick's. All the head honchos from Dick's were the ones cutting the ribbons yesterday at the grand opening. It's a new name, new store, new brand.

None out west and the local gun shops have plenty of ammo at a fair price.

The elusive bucket of bullets

So I went once more this morning to be there at opening. About 200 people in front of me. I got in went straight to ammo and no bucket of bullets...... but they did have the 525 packs for $23. I got 3. I had taken inventory in the AM prior to leaving and was figuring what I wanted to buy and improve upon. It would definitely be .22lr in bulk, maybe combination of the bucket and .38spl reloads. After seeing what was available for .22lr what I shoot most I went strictly .22lr

They had 9mm in the bulk 250 reload for $65, and the bulk .38spl 200 reload @ $65 and 1000 ct 9mm $250, 1000 ct 5.56mm@ $449 I think.

One salesman said they will always have ammo as they will divert from the stores and support this startup concept store.

I stopped this morning on my way to work. Nice store and it has been a long time since I've seen CASES OF AMMO and STOCKED AMMO SHELVES. )

Ammo prices looked average to better than average. Hope they keep it stocked. I should pick up some 9mm or 38 special this week. There was only 1 flavor of .357 magnum in 50 round boxes; Remington 125 gr. JSP. I will skip the 38 special in favor of it.

They also had some holsters and 5.11 Tactical gear.

I was there yesterday, it is an excellent store. I wasn't overly impressed by the price of their guns, but they had everything you could want. I was shocked when I aproached the ammo section when I saw pallets of CCI bricks right next to pallets of Remington bricks. I bought a brick of CCI of course, and a box of PMC Bronze for the SR9. This is the first time in almost a year that I could choose the type of ammo I wanted instead of settling for anything in stock. Too bad it's a two hour drive for me, but I get out to Pittsburgh fairly often.
