Midway shipping kills the ammo deals for me.

The only way it makes sense is if Midway has multiple items you want and the ammo is just one of them in the shipment.

Midway wanted $21 to ship a 333 pack of 22lr.

It was only $16 for the ammo.

I do a lot of shipping on eBay, and I can ship that across the country for $7.21.

Thanks for nothing midway. You are on the gouge list.

From Midway, I bought 500 rounds of CCI Mini-Mags and the shipping, while costly, was not $21.

I'm not sure what all is driving the cost of ammo shipments.
Perhaps it's partly Midway's doing, charging us for the box, packing materials, and their employee's time.
I also think it is because it must go UPS ground with that ORM designation for small arms ammunition.
I think UPS is getting more money for shipping ammo as well.
And Midway isn't the only company collecting these higher shipping costs.
So are Cabela's, Bass Pro, and others.

Midway

Very disappointed in Midway !! I've bought LOTS of ammo from them ever since Potterfield learned how to use a computer. For my Mark target pistols, I like Federal Auto Match, and Midway has always been competitive. However, when I was recently notified atht Auto Match was in stock, I hurried over to order some. Retail price was OK--$17 for 325 bulk--but the Midway threw on $15 for S&H. Are you kidding me ??? So I patiently waited for my LGS to get some for me and I finally bought them for $16.

Yep

their shipping cost killed it for me, makes one box of ammo REALLY EXPENSIVE!! they are NOT the ONLY ones, try a ammo order from sportsman guide.

I still buy from Midway occasionally but I think Midway does not really want orders less than $60.00 to $100.00. I remember a long long time ago when they didn't charge shipping. Of course Midway just added it to the cost of products. I think Midway's problem began when Larry Potterfield decided to add a small order fee if less than $40.00 and when that didn't go over too well made it a small order fee for less than $25.00 which remains to this day. Midway at that time used to advertise their shipping as fair and honest. I certainly don't feel it is fair. As far as a small order fee, why should you have to pay someone to do business with them? I think until Larry Potterfield et al has a change of heart on his shipping, we should buy from the local gun stores as much as possible to give Midway, Cabelas and others a message. The one thing I will give Midway credit for is they have not raised their prices to scalp customers during the great ammo shortage. A better business model is Brownells. They ship $13.95 flat rate and if you have a back order when it comes in they don't charge extra shipping for it. Midway will. Brownells will also ship small parts by USPS for less than their 13.95 flat rate with no small order fee like Midway. Midway claims they can't make money on small orders but I don't believe that. Brownells does. As I said why pay someone to do business with them. It almost reminds you of The Sportsman's Guide "Buyers Club". Now there's a fine example of paying to do business with someone.
Most of us have groused about how high .22lr are at gun shows but by the time you pay shipping on top of the price of the ammo from Midway and Cabelas how much difference is there usually?
One more thing I don't like about Midway is their NRA round up program. Now I'm an NRA member and have been for a long tine and a supporter but I don't believe when you order from Midway you should have your order "rounded up" for the NRA or unchecked if you don't want to. It should be the other way around, check if you want to round up. There's something to be said for free choice.

Midway wanted $21. I think I need a job at Midway. Hope he is paying his people well to run that scam.

I don't think they are making money off the shipping. Price out how much it is to ship a brick of 22lr (comes in at approx 5 lbs) UPS ground, about $16 to ship it 2 zones over. That is why I always order other items at the same time to help justify the shipping costs. I do have to give MidWay props for not jacking up their prices on ammo or mags. When others were charging $30 to $40 per P mag, Midway was still offering them for $13. There are certain other DIRT companies that I will never buy from again because of their tactics during the feeding frenzy.

The problem is that it takes as much time to package and ship an item with $5 profit as it does and item with $100 profit. This makes them build-in about an $8 profit. It hurts us but lets remember they aren't the ones that started this mess. They just want to stay in business.
