Well, if you are the only one with ammo because nobody bought any, Genius. If the prices return to "normal", Genius because everyone will be gobbling up the "normal" priced ammo and again, a shortage. As long as you come out with ammo, I say genius.

I went from 0 to just shy of 10k rounds in 2 months. I have traded away 1k and shot up at least 3k in that same time period so that means I actually purchased around 14k.

The first few boxes (50rd) were Eley Club Extra that I had to give about .20pr. Since I found .10pr and the bulk of it came in m22 and federal 2100rd ammo cans for ~.05pr as well as 100rd boxes of Rem vipers for about .04pr.

I have stopped buying for now as I am leaving on vacation next week. Once I get back, I will, again, be pounding the beat looking for those deals. And when I find them at < .08, I buy. Higher, I have to think about it and factor in whether I have managed to replenish what I have shot with my girls. At .10, I walk away for now.

Given I will be coming home with .223 and .30-06 rifles and about 5k of 30+ year old ammo for them, my next purchasing focus is likely to be powder, primers and bullets for reloading.

No one has ever called me a genius before.

For the first time in weeks I went to Academy before they opened this morning and the line when the clock struck 08:00 was perhaps 10 people. Prior to that it had to be at least 30.

I may swing by again in the morning to see if that was a fluke or not. If not then that may be a sign the panic (at least around here) is subsiding a bit.

They had a stack of American Eagle 40 rd boxes for $2.19...yeah, 40rd. I passed, I was there for a different purpose this morning and somehow, a box of 40 seems rude.

A couple weeks back I hit the two walmarts almost equal distances from my house and picked up 3x100 CCI MiniMag's for $6.70 a box at both stores. They had several cases each and there was nobody in the store.

Dunno, at times it seems to be getting better then it doesn't.
