Winchester ammo = Garbage

I've had nothing but bad luck with Winchester 22LR ammo.

I went to the range today and shot about 300-400 rounds out of both my 10/22's. I decided to go with a couple mags of CCI AR Tactical and then the rest Winchester XPERT HV and Super X rounds.
Those Winchester rounds were noting but trouble. 2-5 fail to feed jams per 25. It's the only ammo that gives me issues. Rem Golden Bullets are pretty good and Federal too.

No more Winchester 22LR for me. I'll pass from purchasing it from now on.

ive heard this before about some of their other ammo. (9mm and .45)

its just hard to think such a well known and historic gun brand has such awful ammo.

I've shot hundred of rounds of Winchester ammo and have never had one problem with it. 9mm, .38 or .45.

I feel your pain with the 22lr.
I threw a box into the woods last fall.

I use Remington and CCI and have real good luck. I do have a brand new box of Winchester but I have not opened it yet.

Some guns just don't like some ammo, but people still blame the ammo...

Winchester ammo = Garbage

I've found 22lr semiauto guns to be the most finicky guns out there. What one loves, another hates. I have a mark 2, a buckmark, a couple 10-22's, and a hi standard. Not a single one will shoot all 22 ammo reliably. CCI blazer shoots in most, but not all. Remington golden shoots well in my 10-22, but not the buckmark.

It's a PITA, but I have to keep a variety of 22 around for all of my 22 guns.

Both my guns don't like that ammo, so yep, I'll blame the ammo.

Re: Winchester ammo = Garbage

The super X 22s will not work in my 10/22 or my marlin, now i know when i buy them, the only gun that will reliably cycle and feed them is my S&W 22a pistol.

I have had this happen too. I have better luck with their center fire ammo, but am not impressed with their rim fire stuff.

For bulk ammo, I get very good accuracy with Winchester Xpert in my Model 52Rs and in my CZ 453. All are 1 MOA guns at 100 yards with decent match ammo, but they'll still do between 2.0 and 2.5 MOA at 100 yards with only the occasional flier. In those bolt guns it's my preferred low cost plinking ammo.

In my 10/22 it Win Xpert seems to fail to feed around every 2-3 magazines - but then so does SK Jagd Standard Plus, and no one calls it crap. Ever.

Remington Golden bullets however shoot extremely well in my 10/22 in fact my 10/22 is the only .22LR I have (and I have a dozen of them) that will eat that stuff reliably. And almost every one calls GBs crap.

So...it's not a matter of Super X or Xpert being "crap" it's just an issue of it not being well suited to the 10/22.

Only prob with certain brands are win super x . My SR22 Loves Blazer, winchester 555 b ulk box and federal hollow points. A good break in with Mini Mags (200rds) and a good cleaning (frog Lube) and 0 issues so far.

These days with 22 ammo availability being what it is I'll take what I can get/find. I have enough 22's available that I'm sure I'll find something to shoot it in... Besides I've yet to find any 22 ammo that's 100% reliable in all firearms. CCI mini mags come close but still not 100%. 22 ammo is what it is! I'm just happy I can find any when I do!
I've never had any issues with any Winchester CF ammo white box or otherwise

Super X hyper 40gr solids at 1435fps to date were the most accurate out of my 10/22 with TacSol barrel at 100 yards...beating out the next best by a small margin...

However, the quality and price are not conducive to me buying more in the future...especially since they are not competition legal due to hyper...

All the other Super X has not been any good to me at all...on any level...

The Winchester bulk 36gr cphp was on par with other bulk ammo and better than some...but not as accurate in my guns as their Remington equals...

The most accurate bulk ammo for me was blazers...but the cycling problems were off the chart due to the hard wax they use on those...

My favorite bulk ammo for all my 22s is w/o question Rem 36gr cphp...

Thunderbolts have been great cycling...possibly the best of any...however...a lot of them don't go bang...which is not so bad for cheap bulk ammo...but the accuracy is the worst of anything I have tried bar none...and by a lot...would not buy any again...
