BangItAmmo.com --- new ammo website

I happened to stumble across an fairly new online ammo stock that had some in-stock ammo last night and managed to order some .22LR Federal 525 packs.

Ammunition | BangItAmmo.com

Hey, I know it was expensive, but at least it was in-stock so I'll have something to shoot in my beloved SR22.

I'm in Illinois .. the online ammo store is in South Carolina. I had to email a copy of my Illinois FOID card and State ID before I could purchase the ammo ... they were quick to approve my order.

The store doesn't appear in any of the ammo search engines, so I think it's pretty new.

They had other caliber ammo in stock too, but I'm focus completely on .22LR ... and the Federal 525 packs have always be reliable in my gun.

I know, I know ... I used to buy them for a lot less, so please don't dump on my post.

Hopefully this will all settle down and I can score some cheap .22lr like we did in days of old, prior to all this craziness.

Feel free to pay more for your ammunition. This is still a somewhat free country.

I personally will NOT pay jacked up prices. That's my right too.

If most people would stop freaking out prices will drop some.

Old shooter to new one... you don't need to have the stock I have over night. Mine was built up over time buying when a good deal was available or I had extra cash.. pay your bills, put food in the cupboard then by some extra. If you buy only 100 rounds more then you shot you will have a good supply before you know it and wouldn't have to pay the 23% interest on the ammo because you ran up the credi card.

At $84 per box , I'm not surprised that they have some in stock. I suspect that these "come lately sellers" who are price gouging will have short lived businesses as the prices begin to return to normal (gun owners have long memories).

I know it's jacked up ... but it was in stock ... and I needed it. I went into Walmart and Bass Pro shop every day, and got frustrated. What I found amusing (and kinda sad) is I often made the "walk" to the ammo shelves with the same folks. I've stood at the end of long lines outside of Gander Mountain and to find out that there was no .22lr in the Friday shipment.

The BangItAmmo.com price per round, for the Federal .22lr 525 pack, was less than GunBot or SeekAmmo search can find, so I bit the bullet, pulled the trigger, bent over and paid the price ... because I know it shoots well in my Ruger SR22.

I didn't buy 4,000 rounds I bought 525. And I get to go shooting.

Tod ... I wasn't second guessing your decision as what you choose to buy or not buy is only your business. My only point was that the businesses who choose to go the price gouging route (in the name of supply and demand), may find that their business will suffer when supply and pricing return to a more normal range.

Wanting ammunition is not same as needing. You wanted to go shooting but did you really need to? I'm sure even us that have a ready supply in the locker have cut baco on) our shooting. I have. I've got a happy supply but cut back my shooting. I'm saving the money I usually spend on ammo and supplys in a coffee can in the bottom of my safe for when the ammo flows again. Out of site outta mind.

Please don't feed the frenzy. Stand tall wait it out. Make friends at the range you might find someone who's flush sell you a box or two at a fair price just to help another shooter out.

I just did... I swapped out some .223 with a guy for some of his 9mm even though I'm flush with 9mm. He was down to a handful and while I didn't have a stockpile of. 223 I had some I could help him out. And now I can go shoot extra of help my buddy by giving him some now to be paid back later.

That's 16 cents per bullet. I was at Cabellas last week and they were selling CCI mini mags for $8.99 per 100 pack, that's around 9 cents per bullet. Of course you can only purchase one box per visit.

I guess it comes down to what your time is worth. I stood in line at Walmart the other night for a little over an hour. I was 4th in line the 9mm UMC mega packs were gone, they only had 4. However I did get 3 boxes of the golden bullets 22LR 225 pacs for $9 each. I Vegas now all the big stores hand out the ammo ONI Friday AM of Saturday AM so there is a line a mile long. I hope is eat back to normal soon.

What part of IL are you located in?

My preferred local store has .22LR on the shelf (at least before noon) every Saturday I go there. It is usually boxes of 50 (instead of the bulk packs), but the limit is 5 boxes/day.

My Walmart in Peoria, IL tells me they haven't gotten in any .22lr ammo in months.

I really wonder how that works. Why did Vegas Walmart have Golden Bullets .22lr in stock and mine can't get anything? Luck of the draw?

I'm only interested in .22lr ammo ... but BangItAmmo.com has other caliber ammo in stock as well for those who are interested.

"want versus need"

No, I need to go shooting. I need to get some of my frustration out ... frustration at not being able to find a free supply of reasonably priced ammo ... so yes, I bit the bullet because I need to really pull the trigger.

I think I could get a doctor's order saying I need to get rid of some this frustration by going shooting.

Don't let anyone shame you into doing what they think is right.

I wouldn't buy ammo at that price but if you want to go ahead.

We live in a capitalist society, not communist so you're free to spend or make money however you see fit as an individual.

>>What part of IL are you located in?

Peoria, IL. None of the local gun shops I've stopped at have any .22lr ... and usually say something like "we got some in last week and it was gone in ten minutes ... every one who walked by took a box."

Luck of the draw.

Now, I'm not looking for sympathy or hand outs, but I had polio and walk with forearm crutches. I was on my high school rifle team and could shoot with the best of them. My son and son-in-law got me back into shooting by buying me a semi-auto SR22 last fall.

So, walking in and out of stores looking for ammo is a challenge for me ... so I like to shop online. I've had zero luck since Feb or so buying local ammo and moved to buying online.

BangItAmmo.com's .22l long price ... though high (crap I bought Federal 525 at Walmart last fall for $18) ... is available and I know it shoots reliably.

I suspect all the on-line prices will fall as supply meets demand ... but since my wife and I like to shoot the SR22 ... I needed ammo.

The prices were better than any of the search engines I haunt ... and I've never bought ammo from individuals on GunBroker.

Yes, I'm frustrated at these prices. But I'm not stock-piling ammo, or frenzy buying ... I just thought folks like to know about some available on-line ammo.

I understand the fustration. But for that price you could of bought a case of beer or bottle of your favorite fire water. A pizza and fishing license and would of spent a whole day drowning worms. Or buy a nice pellet gun and knock off some pigeons.

Not saying you cant pay more if you want to. Just try not to give the people jacking the prices all your money. If you had put that cash aside as if you spent it, then when you do find ammunition you can buy plenty.

Went to the Dixie Gun and Knife Show in Raleigh NC yesterday and was quite surprised at all the stuff that was there. Did not seem like there was shortage's to me. The price's were not too bad, like $22, 26, 27 per pound on powder's, boolit's were plentiful and just a tad high, like 10mm JHP 180gr. 250 ct. @ $35. Now the primer's were a little high I thought @$45 per 1000. but all in all there was plenty. Oh yeah, a couple redneck's walking around with a saga 12 for $2295.
