I am storing ammo and gun question.. I am tossing in few of those silica gel packs will it hurt ammo or gun if they touch the gel packs ? Seems like I read somewhere it is not good for the packs to touch ammo or gun ? Anyone else seen this ?

Yes they are corrosive if torn open. The problem with the packets is they absorb moisture quickly and hold the moisture. You can't easily recharge them like the large plug-in dehumidifiers. As long as you are storing your guns in a conditioned area, you shouldn't need them anyway.

I am storing in my garage on shelf about 5 inches off concrete floor the garage has two vents for furnance and a/c, but temps can vary I have thermometer on wall coldest it has ever gotten is 55 degrees and warmest is 80 degrees I live in Ky so we do have humidity from time to time ....

I have used the silica packs for years and never had a problem with them every now and then I will pre-heat the stove oven to around 200 then cut it off and place the silica packs on a tray and put them in the oven for about 20 minutes and that will dry them out
