| ammo depression
i dont know about everyone else, but generally being an optimist, i always get my hopes up when i enter a store. like i will win the ammo lottery. usually, like the real lottery, there is more dissapointment than happiness.
this whole situation is a downer. i wouldnt mind burning up what ammo i have, but with prospects of replacing it not being good for at least six months, we are screwed. if sportsmans guide is at least 6 months deep in backorders, what does that say? 1 year till relief? what?
i think i may just burn up all of my target ammo and it is what it is. i just am not capable of not shooting when i do have ammo. what good is it in my basement?
that being said, i also have defensive ammo that i wont use unless an emergency arises.
my cousing is a LEO and he said he had to do his annual qualification last week with their ar's. i guess that normally, they are able to bang away and ammo is not a concern. not this time. apparently, their ammo orders arent being filled either.
bottom line is that this is getting worse, not better. people who normally wouldnt consider storing ammo are falling victim to the panic. its a vicious circle.
just needed to vent, my wife is tired of hearing it.

Maybe we should form an "ammo support group" to help those inflicted deal with their depression...
I know I'm still amazed seeing the empty shelves in the local Wal Mart and two LGS's that I used to buy ammo at...
it's just outright depressing!!!

A recession is when someone else doesn't have ammo. A depression is when you don't have any ammo.

it's just outright depressing!!! | Would it be even more depressing if I told you I am a handloader, bullet caster, and blackpowder shooter with hundreds of pounds of lead, thousands of jacketed bullets/primers, and many pounds of smokeless and black powder? That is in addition to the several thousand rounds of .22 LR and over 1500 factory rounds of various centerfire calibers in my stash. Oh, I almost forgot about the 500+ rounds of 12 ga shotgun ammo, too...

In northern Nj all the LGs are limiting purchases to 100 rounds centerfire and 500 rounds rimfire, that way everybody gets some.

It's amazing that people store that much ammo. I need to shoot, not sit in the basement and stare at it. If I have it I shoot it.
If I need thousands of rounds of ammo to fight of the bad guys, I really don't want to be around anymore. I won't need ammo where I am going.
I plan on wearing socks the rest of my life but only have about ten pair. I am not going bare foot forever just because I don't want to wear out my ten socks.
Relax everyone they will make more!
