I'm not going to stop shooting, but I did some calculations to ration what I have and make it last at least six months.
No more days of shooting 500 rounds of any caliber. Maybe 100 of this and 100 of that...
And any time I do find some ammo it's a bonus. I found 3 boxes of 40 S&W a week ago, so guess what's going to the range tomorrow... without dipping into my "stash".

Went into a place today and they wanted $9 for a brick of Remington 22lr JHP (and I bought two!) and they wanted $40 for a 50 box of Winchester .45 ACP 180 grain target ammo. Even Cabela's website looks like they have moved up a few bucks per box.

I have not bought any ammo recently, but there are some websites that definitely have
.45 acp ammo, it's just that the price is somewhat high.

Yeah, just baked up a batch of my made at home triple chocolate chip "chernobyl" cookies. I named them "chernobyl's" because I melt the ladies hearts with them, ha.
I got a bunch of nasty glares from the little girl scouts hawking thier wares in the lobby at Hollywood Super Market as I was delivering them to the Deli department, those ladies AWLAYS hook me up with the best fried chicken.
You know, a big plate full of freshly baked cookies might get me into the inside track at my LGS for some ammo, hmmmm, you know, I might have to try that sometime soon.

Oh, I almost forgot about the 500+ rounds of 12 ga shotgun ammo, too... | Congratulations to you sir |

I am still selling ammo for 1.00 cash a box more than I pay for it. The price has just gone up sense they are having to pay overtime and hire lots of employees. I am surprised OB isn't claiming to have created these new jobs. If you are a hoarder I will choose not to sell to you. Go to Walmart. six months ago I was selling most hand gun pinking ammo for $8-14 a box. Now it costs $14-18 a box and I am making no more money. Case price is twice that per box.

OP, not sure where you live but I picked up 1000 rds of 9mm last weekend at GAT guns.
They have pretty much all calibers in stock and the store was full. Local Walmart stores are pretty much depleted.

All things being said some jokes being tossed out there all is good that way, but what is out there is.....basically not out there in 9mm, .22LR,.223/5.56 just to name a few calibers all one has to do is go into a LGS and see what they don't have! In other words there is a ammo shortage and it is a serious problem so is the Dept. of Homeland Security buying up what I heard 21 million rounds of ammo, plus a nervous public buying out all the AR's the 10/22's the Mini-14's all the 22LR all the .223/5.56 all the 9mm the list goes on there in possibly is why we have a ammo/gun/magazine shortage!! Maybe maybe not but this certainly could be the reason?

I have enough to last for four years of my usual shooting. I just don't want to use it down too far before the gun haters fade into the background again.
My worry is that come warmer weather, my range will be jam-packed with all the new gun owners. I have nightmares about them all wearing camo, and chanting catch phrases from the Rambo movies......
I hope my fears are unfounded, and I can have my nice, peaceful, no-waiting range again this year.

Also, I would like to introduce a slightly new topic, that of when you do find ammo and you are excited about it, you have to explain to the wife (or significant other) what the heavy Midway box was. I am gonna be in big trouble sometime early next week when my next Midway shipment arrives. Hard to be excited about something when your loved one is throwing them at you. |

She knows about what I paid for ammo and firearms and she sees the prices of things today.
