My LGS got some .38spl ammo in today. It is HPR 158gr JHP, Made in USA.

I've never heard of this ammo before. $34 for a 50rd box of self defense ammo sounds like a fair deal right about now, if it's good stuff. But it's not worth it at any price if I can't trust my life with it.

I'm talking about a specific brand of SD ammo here, the HPR 158gr JHP. Not the Gander Mountain/Wally-World target ammo special of the week (whatever that is). I've never seen these HPR SD loads at either places.

Good SD rounds are normally going for around $25 or more for 25 rds, if they have them in stock. I thought $34 for 50rds is a good price, provided they are decent.

A quick google search tells me that this MIGHT be loaded with Hornady bullets. If so, I would say that's a good price for SD rounds. Hornady generally is a good bullet.
