One example... I called Dick's a few weeks ago...they said "call back at 9:30 on Friday...we have a truck coming in..."

So I got there at 9:20 knowing it was a waste of time calling...they opened at 9:00am...got in 20 boxes of 525 golden bullets...had a limit of 1 box/customer...were sold out before store opened...more than 20 people in line waiting for store to open...no idea how early you had to be there and also don't care...learned my lesson with THAT...

Now the big difference between last time...2008...and this time...is now they are all-in for gun-control...

Perfect storm for the communist... a few tragedies unifying the utopian seeking do-gooders under the communist banner combined with the administrations need for a massive media distraction from what they are really doing means the President will keep running his mouth waging ware against the 2A...which means people are going to keep buying everything they can while they can...

I hope it does pass soon...but I think its going to last for a while yet...

Sportsmans Guide is showing an ETA of golden bullets of OCTOBER....not sure if it's real...but that is a not a good indicator imo...
You are still going to send me the zillion rounds though aren't you?

Wife got me a brick of the Remington .22's for my birthday at a Pacific Northwest chain called Bi-Mart. It was almost closing time and she was in the sporting goods section looking for something for me. The counterperson helping her went above & beyond because they were only setting out 4 bricks a day and were supposed to set the next 4 out the next day. Some redneck jerk who was next in line after her spouted off to her & the counterperson that he should have gotten it because he was going to buy all four bricks @ $18 a brick and he had been in earlier when they didn't have it on the shelf. Manager was called over & told him ammo is sold first come first served with a limit of 4...and said he could have the other three so long as my wife who was in line first didn't want them. Wife said the one brick was fine..she could have really made him mad lol. Gonna hang on to this ammo a while though cuz who knows when this craziness will end. I normally only use CCI .22's but I'm just glad to have some.

I was at Big 5 at opening time the day after they get thir shipments. I was second in line and by the time the doors opened there were about a dozen people in line. The first guy was looking for 5.56 (they didn't have any) so he left and I bought the only four boxes of .22LR. I heard a few moans in the background but they realized I was there first.

Going to the same store on mornings after shipments arrive I tend to see the same people. Now we are talking to each other and telling stories. Depending who is there first and what everyone needs we might pass on something if you got the last shipment.

Buying 22LR from Walmarts...

On December 6, I purchased the only weapon that I own, a Ruger SR22. I just wanted to do some plinking and target shooting. I almost had canceled the order, because I wasn't aware of how difficult it was to buy 22LR. But I found 3boxes of 225, at the local Walmart, after having searched the Internet and calling everywhere, for a few days. I had ordered a bunch from midway, on backorder, but eventually canceled it, when I was told that it wouldn't be in until the end of June 2014. I since have accumulated over 7500 rounds of 22LR, buying only at two local Walmarts. I will only buy the 22LR, if my cost is less than .05 per round! I get a 10% discount at Walmart, due to my wife having retired from there. I buy from the store in town and from one 20 miles away. I call a few times a week and find out if they have a truck coming in and if it will have 22LR on it. I go there when they tell me that the truck will be unloaded. I refuse to buy from anywhere else, because they will never match the price that I currently pay. I have been lucky enough to buy 3- 550 boxes at one store and drive to the other, to get 3 more boxes of 550. One day, at the local store, I was told that they would be getting two boxes of 1000rounds, amongst their supplies. I arrived and waited for the truck to be unloaded. I bought the two boxes of 1000 and 1 box of 225. So, in those three purchases at the stores, I got 5525 rounds of my 7000+ supply. The many other calls, have lead to much fewer purchases, if any. So the key, is to keep calling and asking when and if, any are coming in on the trucks. I plan on calling a little less, now that I have a good supply. I will not waste my time, for anything under 500 rounds.

I kind of liken this to fishing.....I cast my line (calling) and if the store is going to be getting some in (nibbling) I go to the store, to see if I can actually make the catch. If you really want to find 22LR, at a reasonable price, it is available to you, if you keep calling your area Walmarts.

I picked up 1500 rounds on Tuesday at Gander, 1000 Winchester and 500 Federal. It's the first 22lr I have seen in two months.

I've had 1500 rds of .22LR delivered to my doorstep this week alone via online purchases from Cabelas and PSA. Once in a while I'll luck into some at WM.

That pretty well sums it up...you just have to keep at it day in and day out. The stuff ain't gonna walk up and kick you in the butt.

Seems like the .22 LR comes and goes but most of the time gone! Lately I have seen a lot of .223/5.56 at all the gun stores etc. So this ammo there is not a shortage! Seems to me the Obummer administration is probably very happy about the .22 ammo shortage. I mean the most available and cheapest ammo in times past! Homeland Security probably has something to do with this as well. Of coarse our own inability to be patient and wait and not get nervous but wait we are human! Hence forth cometh the "Ammo Hoarders" who buy up the ammo so damn fast that there is never any ammo around! I myself might shoot a couple hundred rounds in say a year not even a month! I have a good supply of ammo on hand, but I don't go out and shoot nearly as much basically because of the current situation! I am now thinking might as well start shooting my .223 more then the .22LR atleast you can find plenty of .223/5.56!

The local WalMart has a good supply of 5.56, 9mm, .40, and .45's. They have .270's, '06, and .300 Winchester. They have not a box of .22's in months. And .30-30's are almost as scarce as .22's.

My wife found Our local Walmart had some Remington 22LR Subsonic. She was allowed to buy 3 boxes of 50. I called my buddy and he was already there getting 3. I got there a couple of hours later and there was still some left. Bass Pro had some earlier this week we each got the allowed 5 of Blazer. I have had by brother send me a Bucket of Remington 22LR (1400 rounds.) You have to develop a network of friends looking…. IMHO

The reason for the 22lr shortage has been explained multiple times by multiple sources so I'm not going to rehash it here, but it has nothing directly to do with anything the current president or government is doing. And by repeating the claim that it does you are just adding to the indirect way the current administration is influencing ammo supply and demand.

These problems are on going now, it would be nice if things can calm down!!!
unfortunately I don't think things will calm down until after 2016. It may lighten up after the 2014 election once Obummer is neutered, but only if the election takes the senate away from the dumocraps and we keep the house too. Otherwise I don't see this ending until the socialist's/Marxist are out of the Whitehouse.
