Its been quite a while since I've seen Wolf ammo available. Cabelas was a good place for me to pick up Wolf locally, but as soon as it hits the shelf, its bought up.
Seems supply cannot keep up with demand. But where is the demand coming from? New Shooters.??? Investors???
HMmmmmmm.

Having the same problem here in Wisconsin, the only ammo that appears to be in plentiful supply is .40 cal I cannot find 9mm 10mm .357sig or 45acp.

Two differant retailers have stated that they have identified certain people that seem to know when a shipment arrives and they are buying everything.

We have a Big R farm and ranch supply store locally, went in Saturday, they had about 20 boxes of CCI 525 rds. for 16.00. I bought one box, left some for the next guy. No 9,45,or 357. My local LGS has 45,40.38,357, but no 9. Going to take time to catch up from all the new shooters out there.

People are hoarding or "investing" to resell it for ridiculous prices later.

I think some ammo never makes it to the store shelves.
It arrives at the store's back dock, phone calls are made, and friends and relatives descend on the store and buy all of it.

Since I know for a fact that people are buying up everything they can get there hands on to resell for a large profit - I suspect a lot of the gun/ammo related shortage is due to that.
I just recently starting cruising the on line gun auction sights and was I ever shocked at what I saw.
Just saw a box of 1000 CCI small pistol primers sell (they were fought over) for just a few $ short of $300 - that is roughly 10x the normal price.

Same ridiculous prices for .223, .22, and 9mm.

As long as clueless morons keep buying the supplies at these prices, then more "profiteers" will keep draining the supply line.

WOW! A year out!! the ammo shortage is crushing the hobby, not to mention the insane prices on everything associated with shooting. Shoot what you have and be left out from shooting againuntil you can get more or not shoot and try to save some ammo, either case you're not enjoying the hobby at all.

I dropped by a local Gander Mtn store this morning, shortly after they opened. There may have been 20 customers in the store, and everyone of them was hovering around the shelf holding bricks of 22. I later saw two different people with shopping carts full of bricks. I watched one guy unload his cart for the cashier, and he had about 20 bricks, then another 100 or so of 100rd individual boxes. The other guy had nothing but bricks, and the cart was full to the brim. His wife was trying to push the cart, but it was too heavy for her.

Good thing I wasn't shopping for ammo.

My habits haven't changed. Each payday I try to get a one or two bricks. Of course right now that is slightly impossible. I haven't seen in hoarding.... just haven't seen any ammo :D . Of course when I do find them now ... I have some 'catch up' to purchase ;) .

Academy Sports in Dallas had those Remington .22 1,400 round packages for about $65 when I walked in at 8:0AM. I turned it down, that ammo seems dirty and I already have a few hundred rounds, anyway.

I hardly ever shoot .22, it just doesn't do it for me like the larger calibers. A .22 is great for outdoor plinking.

I know the places I have gone to the last couple weeks have either no .22, or its for the "range only".

Lucky me, I had some money from my birthday in September, and bought the 2100 round + cheap plastic ammo can package from Cabellas for $85. Had another 1000 before that, so I should have enough for range time until things go back to normal. Hopefully.

I dont even wanna talk about 9MM around me. A guy at work is a volunteer county sheriff, and cant even find ammo to qualify with.

My local Gander got in well over 100,000 rounds of .22LR this morning, including 100 Federal Value Packs. It all went in 15 minutes. Nine and .223/5.56 is moving almost as fast, but the other calibers are looking better on the shelves.

I just can't understand the run on .22..........

It has me totally stumped as well. One explanation I've seen was preppers were buying it all. As good or better than most other hypotheses I've heard, though wouldn't preperrs have been prepared way before Sandy Hook took place? After all, we're talking about folks who are really big on being prepared well in advance.

I suppose the best I've heard is that it's due to feared record keeping on sales over 1,000 rounds, which would be most .22LR purchases. Two bulk packs would be enough to put you on a watch list of potential domestic terrorists.

At the moment nobody is buying .22LR as there's none to buy.

Yesterday by chance I passed a Dick's. I had no idea we even had one in the area, so I stopped in to take a look around the place. If you need 12 or 20 gauge target loads they have plenty of it for you. If you need any other ammo you can look at empty shelves that amusingly say there's a limit of 3 boxes per caliber. A moot point when shelves are empty, already limiting you to zero.

Oh man, .22LR is IT for good 'practice' and lots of it. I like my Big Bore revolvers a lot, but nothing like spending the afternoon running through a bulk box in my Single-Six (or other .22 revolvers) at the range. Then pick up a big bore and shoot it for a while, then back to the .22. I find I shoot my Big Bore revolvers better after all the 'cheap' practice I get with the small cartridge. Can't beat it! Shooting from the hip at cans, or 12g hulls, instinctive shooting, etc... just good solid practice with the cheap .22!!!!

I am full of regret.
I would be too ... if I saw them first :D .

I'm buying up a little at a time because an empty gun is a paperweight...

I got two boxes of .38 and two of .38 special at Academy, here in Houston and was surprised to find it. I'm currently only shooting .22lr, I just wanted to make sure I had the larger caliber if/when needed. I also bought the last box of .9mm they had. The gun ranges are limiting sales to one box per person.
