22lr help

I bought a ss blackhawk single six/ 22 mag. two months ago. Had one in the early 80's, sold it ! dumb mistake! Love shooting but I wanted to slow down the hole gun range time. Belong to a gun club, so I can stay all day and even have a camp site ! 20 min. from home though. Also bought the same in 357, but that's not my problem.
22 lr is cheap 6.5 barrel will get me out on the 25 and 50 yard range.
No ammo at most gun shops, some 22mag. around at 9mm prices.
Lvie 1/2 hour from Sportsman guide, was great place to walk in and buy cheap ammo. Last week I stopped in and all they had was some 550 bricks of
a brand, can't remember the name or ever heard of it. Should have looked it up in there on-line cat. All the counter said it is made in mexico, nothing more
boxed in 50 round boxes unplated lead. Will the lead mess my barrel up very
hard to clean? I'm normaly a cci guy. single action, should fire well ? Only can buy in 550 bricks. Do have some cci stock, but wont shoot that up on targets
in todays world. Should I buy ? will it lead up my gun? shoot straight?
Please help !!

Did you buy the ammo? If not it's probably long gone, as any kind of ammo is flying off the shelves quickly right now.

From Mexico, it was probably Aquila brand. I've read some accounts of it being dirtier than some other brands, but most I've read say it shoots well.

For cleaning, the copper coated bullets leave the bore easier to clean than the bare lead ones, but not a real big difference.

With all the political upheaval about guns and ammo lately, you buy what you can get. For some reason, .22LR is in higher demand than some other calibers.

I own 8 firearms. Two of which or .22 caliber. I have a Rugar 22/45 and a Rossi Curcuit Judge. The Curcuit Judge will shoot either .22lr or .22 mag. I just have to change the cylinder on it. I have shot both jacketed and lead ammo in both of them. I have not had any problems in cleaning either of the firearms when I shoot leaded ammo in them. I also reload my own ammo for all of my center fire guns. And I use cast lead slugs when I reload my ammo and I have not had any issues with and of my guns when cleaning them. The leaded slugs do not give me any problems in cleaning. I shoot whatever .22lr or .22mag ammo that I find in the store that is the cheapest. And I've had no problems in cleaning my firearms. You should not have any problems either if you clean your firearms as you normally do. I sometimes will shoot around 500 rounds or more through my guns before I take time to clean them and I do not have any problems in cleaning them. As I've said I do shoot mostly lead cast slugs in most of my guns with no cleaning problems at all. I reload .357 mag, .40 S&W, .45LC, and .45ACP. I reload with the lead cast slugs that I get from Dillion and have had no problems with heavy leading with them. But for the .22lr and .22mag. I shoot whatever I can find in the stores and have had no problems with leading either. I hope this helps.
