No .22LR at three LGS, the range, Walmart or Dick's. For me, there is a shortage. 9mm and .45 are out there, but they are limiting you to one box at a time. No cheap range ammo at all.

I did a search on MidwayUSA, and was flabergasted by only 1, 9mm Luger round in stock and selling for $50.99 for a 20 round box!

Good God I'm glad I'm a caster and a reloader!

Hey jframe, I've been on other sites and misspelled just one word. Folks would rather concern themselves with the misspelled word rather than the content of the message. Kind of small thinking if you ask me. Smithy.

Thumbs down dicks sporting goods only has 40S&W rounds and 222

I visited my Local Dicks sporting goods today and checked out the ammo selection. They had zero 223/5.56, zero 45cal,, zero 22LR.
Plenty of 40 S&W remington green box and 222 remington. They have 9mm critical defense rounds, for $39 a box ..........
so I bought a value pack of 40 S&W reloads. 64 bucks and out the door with some target ammo and a better understanding of our ammo situation. Its bad!

Thanks for serving and your sacrifices. As a fellow disabled vet I know what you face. But run-on sentences are still hard to read.

The problem started in 2004 because of the war. Lead time on Local Government Contract ammo started running long. Regular commercial ammo was readily available.

2007 and 2008 Lead times tripled for contract ammo especially fmj and 5.56. We started selling regular commercial ammo for Contract ammo. Lead times had got to be two years on the Government side of the supply chain. This put a huge strain on commercial supplies. At the same time metal prices were getting out of hand and the economy was sinking.

After the 2008 Presidential elections panic set in and the supply chain broke down. We are at this point again only well justified this time. So long as HR241 The Internet mail order ammo ban hangs over us things are not going to get better.

I think the 2008 shortage was more of a lack of supply but this time the shortage is because of increased demand. So I agree with what you are saying.

No reloading supply shortage either.
And prices have stayed the same.....
Though, sadly, there's a shortage of gun rights down under.

Slightly marked up? $1 per 223 plinking round is robbery!
