I went to Academy early this week to pick up a CT laser sight and was amazed that they had a full isle of ammo. I said "wow they got all the ammo here". The guy replied "don't get all happy, 95% of that is all shotgun ammo".

Wife and I stopped at our local Walmart last eve and the ammo cabinet looked just like the one in the picture - except there wasn't anything on the top shelf at all - that is where the .22lr usually would be.

Went by WalMart today (usually hit it a couple times a week) and this is the first day in a month or more I've found any ammo. Had 3 diff brands of 9mm -Remington UMC, PPU, and Federal (all 50 rd boxes). They had just sold out of the 100 rd boxes of Federal but had 10+ of the others. I grabbed 6 Federals. Who knows when I'll see that much in there again.

Sportsmans Warehouse is the same way. kinda good in one way....keeps one dealer or hoarder from buying it all.

The picture looks exactly like the local Wal Mart here except for the .22's. I haven't seen .22 LR's or Mag.'s at our WM since shortly after Thanksgiving.

Stopped at a Sportsman's Warehouse on my way home this evening (five block detour), just for curiosity. Very pitiful. I'm so glad I have a decent stock.

No 22 at all, not even magnum. A dozen or so boxes of .17HMR. Otherwise all they had was .45ACP (5 boxes Remington) ; about a dozen boxes of Wild West, IIRC, .45LC; a dozen boxes of 10mm (Fiocchi, I think). One lonely box of Federal .25ACP. I could have bought a grand total of two boxes of Sellier & Bellot .38LRN, had I wanted that.

The clerk I know said people are switching more to rifles this past week, and that ammo section did look pretty thin. They had a few of most rifle calibers, but very few.

Still a good bit of shotgun ammo, though. I've wondered why people aren't buying it up like other ammo.

It's catch as catch can here. One Walmart had no 45ACP; the other one cheerfully sold me 100 rounds. I'm not greedy and left some for the next guys.

I believe they are, but mainly slugs and buckshot from what I've noticed.

I laughed at the same thing the other day at Academy. They had a sign like that taped up in front of empty shelves.

Thankfully, we have an excellent LGS here with two locations, and they seem to find a way to keep at least some ammo coming in.

I went to 3 walmarts around my area. Best bet is to go early in the morning 7-8 o'clock. Either be there physically or call, popular calibers usually got stocked around that time.
I scored 3 out of 5 visits, only needed 9mm.

Went to my local Walmart yesterday and was surprised to see about 20 boxes of 9mm. And about 5 boxes of 380. As I was telling the associate how many boxes I wanted he informed me of a two box limit per cal. So I left with two 50 round boxes of 9mm and 1 50 round box of 380.

No limits at the Walmarts here, but still pretty slim pickens.
