Where is all the .22lr?

I've been to 4 walmarts, all my LGS's and Bass Pro and no one has bulk .22lr ammo and walmart just has the Remington Golden Bullet garbage. Funny how people are desperate but not that desperate. Where is it all? How long will this dry spell last?

Salty,

Being the #1 "survival" round, the .22 was the 1st to go. It will slowly come back, some places are getting drips and drabs now. I picked up 1000 rounds Saturday at Gander.

Same in my area...

Glad I had been buying a bulk pack every once and a while to stock up.

It's funny how people are, no ones threatening limiting ammo or types of ammo (to my knowledge), just the guns that shoot them and the magazines that hold them.

I think for some the upcoming gun bans being discussed is just their excuse to buy lots of stuff.

All I can say is that Americans must have a lot of ammo stocked up by now. Supplies have been spotty around here for quite awhile. It's only gotten worse since the CT shooting.

Andy,

Correct you are....however...since "taking our guns" is out of the question many feel like special taxes and raised prices of ammo might turn your gun into a near worthless club if you cant afford ammo that goes in it.

Walmarts gun counter guy told me his manager won't let him order any more ammo until "things calm down probably April or June". This makes me wonder.

They are going after the consumables. ESPECIALLY ammo. Fortunately,
I have been tracking "the Confiscator in Chief" since he became a Senator. Accordingly, I have been putting ammo away for awhile....

I am still picking it up when I can, but I am trying not to panic-buy, and spend a small fortune on things.

Thanks to the "Greatest Gun Salesman In The World" for four years running, I had 20k of .22LR ammo stashed by the end of 2010. Since then I've replaced what I shoot. Something told me to keep a good stash until he's out of office.

This past June I got my .357 LCR, and hit the 800 round stash count of .38s last week.

I'm good with what I got.

I bought 2000 rounds a few weeks ago but it has been hard to find for sure.

Actually there is a new bill to eliminate online ammo sales, record our purchases, and report any large quantity (bulk) ammo purchases to the feds.

Guess no one remembers handgun ammo sales registration throughout the 70's, Federal requirement meant to solve thousands of crimes tracking the ammo. They spent 10s of millions collecting mountains of paper and never used the data in a single case. We absolutely have GOT to try that one again...NOT.

I ordered 2100 rounds of Federal Bulk .22LR from Cabela's & they said 1/25/13 before it arrives. the price was their standard price of $21.99 per 525 count box & a free Dry-Box.

The WM near me put the ammo limit sign back up again. Lot of good that's gonna do when the case is empty. Now across town there are no signs on the ammo case.
