Hey guys just shot through a carton of the Independence fmj and i have to say it is terrible ammo imho. Every 3 rounds I wouls get a jam from the spent round not completly ejecting. On the other huand I never had a problem with the Hornady CD. What do you guys use for practice because I will never use any of this again. My local shop carries mag tech for 13 carton any of you use it?

I get most of my ammo from Wal Mart as well, because their prices are much better then the LGS's in the area.

I prefer to shoot Federal 230gr FMJ when I can get them. When I can't I'll go to Remington UMC 230gr MC. I've had 100% success running these through my SR1911, not one hic-cup or hang up.

Well if it isnt the ammo then its the pistol. Talked to a rep at Ruger and they said try a different round. If that doesnt work then slightly bend the extractor arm a little more and if that doesnt work send it in and they will fix it. I will be upset if I have to send it in may go back to Beretta.

I've run a lot of Independence .38 Special 130 gr FMJ through my LCR-357. Works fine, I like it. $20 a box at Sportsman's Warehouse.

Independence is made by CCI, brass is identical to what they sell labeled Blazer Brass, probably the same loads, too.

I just used up the last of some Independence .357 Mag I had. Worked just fine, though a bit on the dirty side. Being revolver ammo, ejection was never an issue.

In semi-autos I've used PMC, Aguila, Federal, Winchester, Remington, S&B, Herter's Brass (made by S&B) and all worked just fine.

While my experience is modest compared to others who've been shooting for decades, it seems pretty hard to find bad ammo. Other than Prvi Partizan .38 LRN that keyholed like crazy & left a lead mine in my GP100 bore, I've never otherwise found anything that didn't function well. In revolvers I've found Fiocchi to work very well, as does Magtech.

Hey guys got an update shot 75 rounds of PPU and had 2 jams. And its just not ejecting all rounds fired. The ammo was a little dirty but was accurate. I am thinking the gun just needs to be broke in idk I went ahead and shot some of my PD rounds Hornady CD and had zero problems. I am going to order 500 rounds from freedom and shoot them. If it still has problems I am sending it to ruger to have a look see.

I agree... independence ammo is not worth it.

I had my local gun shop give me a box of 9mm when bought some other items. Had it for awhile sitting in my range bag. I pulled it out and shot it last week. It shoots OK and don't have any jam's but its powder burns dirty. My gun wa filthy. I'd say easly twice as bad or worse adding that box into my days shoot. Plus its really not all that cheaper than Winchester.

In my experience.... PASS and go with something else.

Ok guys I shot 50 rounds of magtech fmj and 50 rounds of blazer today. Had zero mals with the MT but 5 jams with the blazer. I have had zero jams with the Hornady and all rounds shoot straight but some are really dirty especially the PPU and Blazer. The Magtech shot clean and pretty straight managed an off hand 1.75 with the MT at 20 yards. I have to say I like my black hawk better though lol. I am probably gonna sale the P90 I want to get my hands on another M9 or 1911 style pistol.

I have only used it in my revolver so I cant comment on ejection issues... But it works fine for me.
