i took the tula 9mm out to the desert this afternoon, and it seemed to work just fine. still makes me slightly nervous, but no negative results, so i imagine some more sessions with it will lessen my concerns..

With its cheaper price its great for plinking and practice.
Trying some Tula in their rifle calibers, same result, no problems, just cheaper to shoot and very accurate in a CZ bolt action model 527.

I cleaned mine every two to three hundred rounds. More so because I was also shooting some experimental cast lead reloads at the time also.

Have over 500 rounds of it through my SR9C. Only one dented primer and no bang. Clean my gun after each day of shooting so can't really tell if it is that much dirtier and only go through 50 rounds each time.

Tula ammo is dirty dirty dirty!!! Steel cartridge lacquered,splits and not easily reloadable junk.. It stinks like spoiled onions when you shoot it. Lots of misfires and lots of fails to chamber.
Tula Sucks. Silver Bear or Brown Bear maybe if they make in your caliber. It's not bad. Really pretty reliable and some cheaper although again steel and not easily reloadable Wolf is some other cheap dirty, smelly unreliable stuff.
I plink with Brown Bear or Silver Bear but carry Honady XTP JHPs in my 9x18 CZ82s.
They are great little guns and the XTS are deadly and reliable.

Sounds more like a gun problem than a ammo problem. Too many people have little to no trouble with Tula.
Some guns are just picky, that is why you should always function test defensive ammo regardless of the brand.

TulAmmo dirty? LMAO. Well so is every other affordable 115gr FMJ "practice" ammo out there. WWB, Federal, UMC... they're all just as dirty as TulAmmo.
I've shot TulAmmo in 9mm, .40 S&W, .45ACP, & .223 Remington. There are no issues with it. Today's TulAmmo steel cases are polymer coated, not lacquer coated. There are no issues "gumming" up the chamber.
Reloading steel cases is debatable. I've been able to safely reload .45ACP steel cases twice before putting them in the recycling bin.
The only issue with TulAmmo is whether or not your range will allow it. Some ranges use spent cases as a revenue source, selling them to reloading companies. They don't want to go through the trouble of sorting out the steel cases from brass.
TulAmmo is lead core covered by a bi-metal jacket. It's a layer of copper over a magnetic jacket. TulAmmo can cause a spark against a metal backstop. That spark can possibly ignite dust, starting a fire.
Use TulAmmo or not. It's your choice. If you want to spend a few bucks more on factory "practice" ammo, go for it. If you want to save a few bucks, go TulAmmo.
If you really want to save money, learn to reload ammo.  | |

Steel case ammo is great for breaking in new guns and will get some guns that are malfunctioning to work.
People don't want you shooting steel case ammo at their range because they sell brass. They can easily find steel cases with a magnet but then it wouldn't be free money.

I actually do. I find this is a great time to inspect the guns ( I usually shoot SR9c, LCP, Ruger 77/22, and Winchester Model 67 each time). Plus it gives more time to talk to my son and let him know that he is getting closer to beating me shooting. So if I can get by with cheaper ammo, that is just more time with my son.

Its dirty, and sometimes miss fires, mostly with striker fired guns. Ranges dont like it cus of the steel case, they would have to sort it out before selling the brass. It has a lead core bullet in it, the case is steel. That said, i shoot tons of it!!

I find it to be among the dirtiest ammo I've ever shot and it's hard to clean the residue off. In my P-series 9mm's it works fine but in my .45 Tonfoglio Witness compact it caused some failures. I noticed some really light loads where the gun barely cycled and I had some FTE issues as well. I ran about 300 rounds of 9mm and .45, I won't be buying any more. Wally world has 100rd federal bulk packs for $20 (9mm) and $30 (.45). I also just purchased 1000 rds of Agulia in 9mm so I'm hoping that works well.
