| Magtech .45 FMJ?
Hey guys,
So as I was at the MCX on PI checking out some wheelguns I noticed a sign that states they sale ammo now. I was excited as all heck. I was expecting some awesome prices on some federal or something. The .45acp ammo they stock is Magtech FMJ and they sell it for $18.99 obviously with no tax. One of the perks of the exchange . I have never used this stuff and I was price checking online and ect. and it all seemed to be around that price. The local walmart sells federal for 17.99+ taxes and the LGS sells CCI blazer brass for 17.99+tax as well. Opinions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the replies thus far gents. I worked it out... After tax the the $17.99 stuff would end up being roughly $19.something. I would save a couple cents using the MCX. I've used the federal with 0 problems. I recently used CCI with 2 FTE BUT I was using brand new magazines so im not sure if it was the ammo or just the new strong spring in the mag pushing a tad too hard?

Never had any problems with Magtech ammo, whatever powder they use is real clean. I have also used their bullets and reloaded a lot of Magtech cases and they all have been top quality.

Never had problems with Magtech but I think I've only used it in 9mm and 40 cal. I usually buy my ammo from Palmetto State Armory and have some S&B, PMC and American Eagle. I've also used UMC and WWB. All had no problems. I've got 5 boxes of TulAmmo as well, but I've never used the 45. It was cheap so I bought some but thought better of it because it burns so dirty.

I have only used Magtech 9mm, but it did fine. I too was a bit apprehensive at first since I didn't know anything about it.

My experience is that Magtech is good reliable ammo. However it burns cleanly in semi auto cartridges only 9mm 45 acp. I know you can shoot 9 and 45 acp in revolvers but they are semi auto cartridges. However their 45 long colt ammo is very dirty shooting with a lot of powder residue.

I've been pretty satisfied with Magtech in .380, .38, and .357. Some powder residue but much less than other lower priced brands. Never had any type of failure with it. I shoot too much for the high buck stuff.

I buy the Magtech 45 for my 1911 at our PX. Sometimes Wal-Mart has lower prices, but I'll support the Exchange system, so they will expand the ammo and firearms they will carry.

I have used Magtech, including .45 ACP, with good results. Considering the price it seems a good value.

Magtec Ammo is a pretty high quality factory offering. It burns reasonably clean and is loaded slightly hotter than other popular factory ammo brands. You'll find it to be reliable, consistant and an overall quality ammunition. Cabelas often has Magtec ammo on sale for some really good prices. I have never had a negative experience with it nor have I heard anyone complain about it.

I have used it in both my 9mm and in my XDS 45 and have never had an issue. Like said it burns fairly clean to. Price is right to.
