I've seen a lot of underpowered Tula ammo at ranges. Also most manufactureres includeing Ruger, SIG, H&K, Beretta, etc... warn against using steel cased ammo (and some even warn against aluminum cased ammo) with pistols because of excess wear on the extractor. Some never have a problem, but I've seen extractors with chipped edges from steel cased ammo making it necessary to replace.
Interesting. I can certainly see that steel is harder than brass. Not so sure how aluminum would be an issue though. Between aluminum & brass I'm not sure which is softer, though both are certainly soft.
I would say that the Tula stuff is fine. I've shot a little out of my SR9 and my friends done the same with his Beretta 92. Depending on the gun, if youre really worried, buy another extractor, the one in my SR9 is super easy to replace and I take it out regularly to clean every couple hundred rounds. Its a part thats going to get worn eventually
Ya Tula is Russian. I'd rather shoot federal, it's probably got a longer shelf life too. My crap-hits-the-fan stock of ammo is 80% federal with a few Tula boxes in there when federal is out of stock.
Ive never had a problem shooting Tula. I actually think its a little less dirty then the Winchester 100rd white box. At least in my opinion. Haha
I bought 3 boxes of federal and 1 box of Tula the other day at Walmart and the guy there asked me why on earth would I buy Tula. Haha
I'll never put that Tula crap in any of my firearms unless it is the only thing at hand when the Zombies come. Which it won't be because I always have a case of good stuff (brass stuff) in reserve for SHTF EOTWAWKI.
I don't like the coating the put on the Tula cases and the seem to shoot very dirty. One box of the Tula's seem to get my gun dirtier than 5 boxes of the federal's. I clean my gun every couple of trips to the range and can tell the difference. I'll pay the extra couple of bucks and stick with Federal. JMHO
My range bans Tula they say due to numerous squib loads, which could result on a bullet stuck in the barrel, and then a barrel exploding when another round is fired with the first bullet stuck in thr barrel...
I have too much respect for my firearms to feed them that junk seriously, I am now reloading, and that is even cheaper still, and more accurate...
