i will NEVER Buy federal hydrashock again NOONE should

i just did a quick test of my ranger t 124gr +p and my 147 gr hydra shok federal ammo. I have to say the ranger t is a MUST HaVE carry ammo. But the hydrashok is a pos. I will never buy federal again a look at the pocture will describe everything. Not only did the federal cost over twice as much so many people swear by it.

I am furious and this is pathrtic for a ammo company. I cant believe this was in my mag for a couple weeks until my ranger t ammo arrived. I wouldnt trust a dying cats life with this hydrashok ammo.

So it's POS after one test? You cannot realistically base it on a single example.

When it comes to my life i can and will. When my life is depwnded on one shot well i want to make sure my bullet wont fail. The ranger t had no problem on the same test.

By all meansyou can trust your life on it but i refuse to its not like it opened up half way it did nothing and that is a disgrace to even happeb once on a 28$ for 20 9MM. this next week ill test all 20 and i will post the results but i will never buy that ammo again and it will never be in any carry gun for the rest of my life.

Also i am not military or leo. Pvt me for the website i will not post it on the forum. You just need to fax your i.d proving your over 21.

I did the water jug testing. Ranger t 125+p blew up completly the first two jugs. The federal only pebetrated two bottles and just with small holes. So that tells me alot also.

Is the Federal Hydra Shock the picture on the right ? If it is, then it is the cartrige that I would prefer for maximum stopping power.

as far as i am concerned, Gold Dots are the only HPs in existence. i have always thought Hydra-Shocks were overrated... more of a PR appeal than a performance appeal. people buy it for that huge cavity and nipple because it LOOKS bad ass.

Ranger t is on the right hydrashok is the ugly looking thing on the left. That fors not even look like a hollow point

Personally i will never carry anything but win. Ranger t ammo. Its the one on the right. It is the most insane looking hollow point. Not to mention the talons on the ends it also opebs up alot. i am blown away by its performance and will not buy any other carry ammo but the ranger t's

The federal Hydroshok is on the left, its the one with the little tit in it.

I compared your photo to the photo at Federal, and they look similar. Looks like they did what they said they would do. I have dropped quite a few deer with many guns and would have to say they would kill.

Federals site states the following:
Hydra-ShokŪ
Quote:
The choice of law enforcement agencies nationwide. Federal's unique center-post design delivers controlled expansion, and the
notched jacket provides efficient energy transfer to penetrate barriers while retaining stopping power. The deep penetration of this
jacketed bullet satisfies even the FBI's stringent testing requirements.
The first sentence states choice of law enforcement. Law enforcement is trying to apprehend criminals not make a mess. I would say good placement of either bullet would kill, the one on the right would make hamburger meat out of extremities and possible injure any doctor operating on the person.

Yes i fired one of each at 4 jugs of water from 15 feet.. This is a my lifes on the line and i can only get one shot off test.

The federal hydrashok failed to expand it mushroomed about 25% of the way and did not expand. As for only putting a hole in the first jug and ending in the second jug. Only about 8 " of penetration.
The ramger t completly demolished the first two jugs and ended in the fourth one. Expanded 100% evenly and talons are exposed.

Im sorry if your misunderstanding my frustration i will not buy federal hydroshoks for a carry purpose again. I understand it might not happen everytime or even very rare but thats no excuse for a high gtade defense ammo. In situations you may have one shot that saves your life or may end bad fpr you amd i will not carry a type of ammp that has failed to expand and mushroom as a defense hollowpoint ammo.

And NO the hydrashok did not do what its suppose to it failed to expand and mushroom. It may noy look it in the photo but it acted like a fmj wound wise amd failed to penetrate anfair amound. They should fully mushroom and not just have one side deform a small bit. I will take and post more pictures of it to prove that fact along with measurements.

Again this is a test to make sure what i carried would do its job right and the federal failed. Amd yes its one shot of each but one shot may mean life or death and the ranger t had no problems it expanded penetrated and obliterated more than i imagined it would and blew my expectations out of the water.

Feel free to use the federal to defend and protect your wife and kids but i will not trust this for me and my gf. One failure is to many and i figured id share the pethetic results even if it happend 1 out of 1
