Why is Lightning cheaper? it's not bulk, and it has more gunpower

Could be any number of things, maybe Federal just made a ton of Lightning and is offering it wholesale for cheaper, and places like WalMart are passing the lower prices along to the customer in an effort to move more of it.

Federal bulk 550 is $15.47 around here.
I think the reason its cheaper, most people just take it for granted that when you buy in bulk you save $$$$. Wally world takes every advantage it can..
It pays too shop with a calculator!

| I bought some a few months back. Next to Thunderbolts (thunderturds) this has to be the worst ammo I have ever used. I expect a few duds in a brick but 1 out of 10 is too too many. On top of that there were a handfull that had crooked rims. This would cause jams and miss feeds. At first I thought it was my gun then I started laying some of the ammo on the table and inspecting them. After that I left them there as freebe's to someone else.

Usually a 36 grain bullet in a .22 is a hollow point. Could that explain the difference?

I agree with "scattershot" 36 gr bullets are hollowpoints while the 40gr bullets are solid lead.I have used both and find that my rifle prefers the 40gr bullets.
