Ruger ARX Ammo ?

I picked up a box of this ammo to use in my EDC, trying to lighten things up as much as possible. I'm sure most off my problems were due to the cheep magazines Taurus supplies with their guns. I had a few feed issues, especially the last round. Has anyone ran this ammo thru their guns and had any issues

Have used it in my 9mm P series, and two 9mm Taurus'.
Also my LCP with no problems . Kind of hard to find around here though.
Usually I have to buy it on line.

That's my problem also, no one has the really good personal defense ammo

Our local Cabelas carried it in 38SP so I shot a box for fun. Very low recoil, like a bb gun in my GP100, and yet has decent ballistics. I think it could be a good choice for light weight guns.

Like anything that's new, its hard to get away from the old school thinking. I agree they definitely had much less recoil than the 150gr HST Micro ammo that I was lucky to find at Walmart. I usually don't take a lot of stock in all the ballistic tests out there, I have yet to run into any human that is built like a block off ballistic jell and any hollow point will put a hurting on someone. As long as I can find enough to cycle a couple boxes thru my gun, I will carry it!

THIS explains a little about ballistic gel origins.
I've been reading about ARX ammo to...have never seen it in the store. Let us know what your findings are. Interestingly,,,,the video I watched of a test of the ARX into gel out of an LCR .38...it provided some pretty good penetration for a lightweight bullet, but the interesting thing that stood out to me, was that every bullet tumbled, thus opening up the wound channel. I wonder if that's by design.

Completely reliable in my Beretta Pico 380 but not very accurate. Seems to be accurate in other guns from what I've read.

I have tried the Polycase/Ruger ARX in 45 and 38, as well as the Polycase/Inceptor in 357, using my SR1911CMD as well as the SP-101 and LCR in 357. Each has proved to be accurate, and the ballistics gel videos give an idea of effectiveness. Each has shown lower recoil. They are a lighter bullet, and tend to hit a little lower from POA than other ammunition - which should not be a problem with practice or short-range shooting. They tend to fragment, rather than ricochet if you hit a solid. Because of all this, my wife and I both have the ARX loaded in our "nightstand" guns.

Regarding the question of the bullet tumbling, this seems to be by design. The ARX is designed to make a big hydroshock hole, then lose power quickly to reduce over penetration - this leads to the (heavier) base ending up pointing forward after the tumble.

I do not know of any "real world" or self defense use being documented, so the gel videos is all we have for comparisons. In my opinion, the ARX is good stuff.

I've never looked at this ammo, but am very interested now. I was looking for some lower recoil ammo for my daughter and her 38. Very interesting stuff here.

I use it in my LC9s pro. Lower felt recoil, very accurate in mine and my girlfriend's guns (same gun as mine), 100% reliability. Also something I've noticed, we clean our guns frequently whether fired or not. I've rechambered the same round over and over and over, with absolutely NO bullet set-back in the case.
We see it on shelves semi consistently, but our favorite sporting goods store always has it in stock.

Not sure if this is more prevalent to shorter barrel guns, but we also like the more authoritative crack versus our plinking ammo. More fun to hear "CRAAAack!" rather than "POP!" Reminds me of 357 magnum or the CZ52 with it's 7.62X25. Makes sense at approximately 1400fps.

The gel tests and lower price versus other premium SD ammo further convinced us. We practice with our carry ammo (as everyone SHOULD), so we have to keep it as affordable as we can.

As i do, this sells for $18 for 25 and most other personal defense ammo is around $25-$28 for 20 rounds!

I'm interested in trying the 9mm ARX. Price isn't bad but you can buy a 50 round box of Federal HST LE for $25.
