I used to live in Coastal Georgia, cotton mouths and rattlers all over. I always kept a colt cobra (no joke) loaded with shot shells , killed dozens of snakes when hog hunting. I also used to carry a SBH with them and my .44 remington rifle had soft nose when hog hunting, good combo for both snakes and hogs, so, yah, they are good, just don't count on the .22 being good for more than a few feet.
