thanks LOWEGAN for the link, but I don't have permission yet.

I will say that in my area, there isn't any cci mini-mag .22LR copper to be had or 60mi west or north of me (couldn't even find reasonably priced, to order online)... I did find a 25 ish year old 50 round box of cci mini mag's (called cci, and by the part # it's the same as the hv .22LR copper's) so I ordered another 500 rounds of the Aguila super extras also 40-gr hv...

gonna' take my two sons, 11 & 16 to the outdoor range with the mark iv, and my nylon 66 this Saturday... plinking and looking for jams...

more later,

I said the same thing about Wolf Match Grade 22 LRs. I bought my first box several years ago and tried them in a couple rifles. Accuracy was worse than most normal high velocity 22s but the price was more than double. When I did the lengthy test with many different brands of ammo, I bought another couple boxes of Wolf and finally realized .... match grade ammo in match grade guns does wonders. Match grade ammo in field grade guns .... not so much.

Of the currently available bulk grade 22 LRs, Federal 36gr HPs seem to function and group better than other bulk grade brands in most of my guns. CCI bulk was OK, Winchester 333 was marginal, but Remington Golden Bullet bulk was pretty grim in all the guns I tested. None of the bulk grade ammo performed as well as premium grade but for cheap plinkin' where pin point accuracy is not needed and a few duds are tolerable, I guess it's OK. My grandkids go through 22 LR ammo like there was no tomorrow so I let them burn up the stash I accumulated during the 8 year shortage. When accuracy counts, I normally shoot CCI Mini-Mags in my field grade guns and Wolf in my match grade guns.

susieqz, I have used CCI Blazers, which are available in bulk (loose packed boxes) and "Choot 'em" which are more like CCI Mini-Mags (300 rounds per box). Here's a link for Choot 'Um and they are on sale right now: CCI 0962 22LR Mini-Mag Choot Em! 36 gr CP HP 300 per box

I'm newer to handgun shooting - love the discussions and have found a few types that my mkii competition target likes, but I operate under the assumption that if it cycles in my gun, for now, it's still more accurate that I am.

thanks, io.
i'll pick some up.
i've been using cci sv for hunting. they are fine for that but if i can find something faster that groups as well, it would be superior.
so far i haven't found any hv that groups well enow for bunnies.
mgars, if you find sv aren't cycling right now, try again later on.
my 22/45 wouldn't cycle sv until i put 500 rounds of cheap hv thru it.
as your accuracy increases you'll need better ammo.
