SR9/ SR9c ammo ?

Local Wally World has WWB and Remington 115gr FMJ for the same price. Is this basically identical ammo? Either more or less reliable in your guns? Thanks guys!

Stick with the WWB or Federal American Eagle! Remington is junk unless its golden sabre IMHO.

You can try a box of each and see which your pistol prefers.

Ammo preference

I have not found either my SR9 or SR9c to be ammo sensitive. Both have fed and fired everything I have tried including WWB, Rem 115 JHP, Sellier & Bellot, MFS (Manufactured by MFS 2000 in Hungary), Federal 115 FMJ (Wally World) and Herter 115 FMJ (Russian from Cabelas).

My SR-9 enjoys everything I feed her. Without exception.

907 rounds of sheer perfection through my SR9. It's too the point, I'm LOOKING for something to cause it to fail.

I've shot a lot of WWB through my SR9c and it has done fine. I also carry Remington Golden Saber in it and it has performed flawlessly.

I have also shot WWB as well as the Remington UMC yellow box. They are both great ammo IMHO. I found the Remington to be cleaner shooting. I have also shot American eagle and one more brand I cannot remember right now. All have performed flawlessly. If you are looking for a superior cartridge between the WWB and Remington UMC yellow box I would say they are about the same and to shoot both and make your own decision.

Is practice ammo like WWB FMJ supposed to be reliable? I thought only personal def ammo had to be REALLY reliable... Anyway I know a good test I perform to test reliability with a specific brand. I load the whole magazine and then rack the slide as if the gun was firing untill the gun ejected all the rounds. If one round gets stuck in the process you can try to figure out why. Only malfunction I have had with mine in 500 shots was in USPSA when I had a light strike on a monarch FMJ 115 gr. I strongly doubt it was the gun. Picked up the round later on and found an indentation in the primer but the round never went off. It did work the second time around after loading it again in my magazine..

First post...

I carry a SR9c. The 10 round magazine is loaded with Hornady 115gr Critical Defense (with the red insert). The 17 round mag is loaded with Magtech 115 grain +P (since the longer mag gives me a better grip on the gun). If I can conceal the full size mag to my satisfaction, I carry with it. If not, I carry with the smaller magazine.

I always leave the Hornady round in the chamber.

I would really like to see Hornady manufacture the Critical Defense cartridge with a +P load.

SR9's eat just about anything, I've discovered, even LSWC's. I've used CCI Blazer Brass and the Federal available at Wal-Mart, and a couple of reloads just to test the LSWC.

Just about all of your American-made factory ammo, cheap practice ammo or not, is going to be reliable. Ammunition manufacture is one of the most tightly quality-controlled industries in this country, and for obvious reasons. Basically, buy what's available and have a blast. :-D

9mm Ammo

I'm getting RWS 124gr FMJ box of 50 for $13 at Wallyworld. They are only allowing 6 boxes per day but they been getting a good stock at all our local stores. If you want more than 6/day just go to another store - we have 10 in the area!

By the way this is supposed to be a high quality match round that goes for more than $30 a box. I have shot of mess of these in my SR9 and my son-in-law has used hundreds through his new Springfield XD - they are outstanding. How WM is getting these at that price is magic I guess.

In case you are interested:

RWS stands for the Rheinisch-Westfälischen Sprengstoff factories, which became part of Dynamit Nobel in 1931. Who else should be able to make a better 9mm than the people who originated them?

I also have a SR9c and find that mine does not like to fire or even chamber the Hornady Critical Defense. do you ever have any problems with this ammo? also, what is your choice of holster for the SR9c.
I am new to this forum and guns in general. any help/advice would be appreciated.

i have close to 1K rounds thru my SR9, JHp's and Fmj even flat pointed FMJ.

not one FTF or FTE , i was surprised i got decent accuracy and the gun is 100 percent reliable, i took the mag disconnect safety out of my SR9 and the mag goes in a little bit smoother and its a little bit easier to rack the slide.

I carry Corbons 125 gr +p ammo on my SR9 , its an amazing gun!
