Alright all I am going to be visiting my Uncle that is returning form Afghanistan in Reno in the near future. I live in California. I am planning on buying some ammo seeing that ammo my way is NOT CHEAP. My question is can I legally buy ammo out of state and drive back with it as long as I do not buy anything that would be illegal in California. Also will I need a relative with a Nevada I.D. to make the purchase. I will thank you in advance for your input.
I don't know anything about Kalifornia's laws and ammo. I don't think there's anything illegal doing that. I know I bought some 380 ammo in FL and brought it back to NC.You can buy ammo in any state except IL if you don't have one of their wonderful FOID cards. I'm sure there's ways around that.Like I said I don't know of any restrictions. If it were me I wouldn't think twice about it. Get it put it somewhere out of sight and go on. You might live in Kalifornia but they don't own you like they want you to think they do. You don't have to be a resident of a state to buy ammo.If you can order on line then you know there's no restrictions.
I have never needed to show ID (in Az.) when buying any amount of ammo.
If the ammo is Ca. legit I see no problem , maybe call CHP or a local gunshop
for the answer.
You mean there are places you have to show ID to buy ammo?! hehe
I've paid cash w/o any questions asked at WalMart for ammo before. There may be something about needing to be 18 or what not, but it's obvious I'm older then 18 =p
I would seriously think about reloading. You can buy the componets and no one knows. You can make all the rounds you want, the way you want and nobody knows how many you have unless you tell them. You might want to buy a bunch of powder while you are out there. Just a thought.
I know that these comments aren't exactly related but owning guns and buying guns and ammo in the "Republic of Kalifornia" totally SUCKS, just got back from Kalifornia from vacation. Beatiful state but no way a gun friendly state
No problem .357 mag. We got the F.O.I.D. card. Without one you get nothing. Ain't that great that we live in a state that wants to protect us from having others get our ammo and we're the only state in the Union that has this benefit. What a fine bunch of represenatives we have in Springfield. Remember in 2012 to vote early and vote often. (I hope that was sarcastic enough)
I remember when you had to show ID to buy a 22 ammo.
That was a Fed law but it either expired or got changed.
Bought some ammo after it was changed and they still
wanted my ID. Got into argument with them and won.
That was in late 60's or early 70's.
Way back in Florida you had to show id for any ammo that could be fired in a handgun. We had to log in the name, address, DL# what ammo was being bought and what quantity That was back in the mid to late 70's.
Here in NJ you also have to show your FOID to buy handgun ammo. No official requirement for shotgun or rifle, but since most stores don't know the difference they just demand ID for everything.
No restriction about buying over in PA, or SC for that matter.
OK to buy in Reno. if you find a wholesaler let us know. Stop in Cabela's in Boomtown, have the Buffalo Chili
I was not asked for ID for Hi Caps they asked for a phone number only. I talked with a clerk, they will sell them all day. You are responsible for knowing your local laws he said
It's really sad the way this country is going to Hell.A day doesn't go by that they are trying to infringe on our rights. We have men and women dying everyday fighting to protect our rights and freedoms. Then we have these useless politicians on our own soil stripping our rights away. This so called President hasn't started yet. No telling what he has up his sleeve with Biden riding on his shirt tail.
Time to wake up America before we become another England and Australia.
