Ammo recommendations for 10-22

In my thread on Mags hanging up, I mentioned that the bullets I was using were Remington Golden Bullet High Velocity. Some one suggested that they probably weren't the best.

Now that 22 LR seems to be in reasonable supply, which would you recommend.

I have a fair supply of CCI, Federal Target Grade, Federal American Eagle and Winchester Super X. I believe all are High Velocity, 1200+ fps. I know the 10-22 and understand that my CZ American do not like anything but High Velocity (for different reasons)

You have some very good ammo on hand that you listed. I would try all of them to see which one gives you best accuracy with reliable function. You may get lucky. For accuracy in my 10-22, I got the best results with Winchester T-22 and Elely Sportsman.

I primarily shoot CCI Mini-Mag HP in my 10/22. It's a bit more expensive than the more standard.22lr, but it's good quality stuff and my 10/22 seems to love it. I've also used CCI Standard Velocity as well as American Eagle and they both seem to work good too. Mini-Mag just seems to shoot cleaner/cycle smoother for me though and that's why I use a lot of it.

With 22 firearms in general it is generally a good idea to experiment a bit to see what feeds best. What works best in one, may not be the best in another example of the exact same model.

Having said that I generally have had the best results with CCI Minimags in my most finicky 22 firearms. My 10/22 seem to work well with anything I've tried in them.

In an old 10/22 I had it ate EVERYTHING I feed it. My Marlin 60 was a different story. It was the reason the Marlin got sold before the Ruger got stolen. I will be watching the thread to see if you come up with a good match up for yours.

The CCI Mini-Mags seem to be the "go-to" round for function testing in the 10/22.....

As stated above, experiment to find what works best.
Most rimfire rifles or handguns will show a strong preference for one type of ammunition. You can dramatically reduce your group size by just finding which type your rifle likes. With a semi-auto you have the added layer of determining what functions in your rifle but the 10/22 isn't very demanding in that regard.

When you find what works best in your rifle - buy as much of that type of ammo that you can. If possible, buy the same lot number.

I love the Federal bulk HP that I've stocked up at Wally years ago. Rem Golden as well. Experiment and have fun, that's what it's all about.

I have one of the first 10/22's that came out and its never been ammo picky. Over the years I've have overall best results with CCI Mini Mags. I stay away from anything that isn't copper coated.

My 10/22 eats anything I put through it except Winchester Super-X. Bought 500 rounds and had a lot of feed and fail to fire problems. Strange tho, I ran an entire box of 50 through my Mark I without a hitch.

The CCI SV and Mini Mags seem to be the most trouble free. I've had good luck with Aguila HV Super Extra so far.

As far as accuracy, I'm not a good enough shot to proclaim one is more accurate than the other. I get inch groups at 25 yds, and that is good enough for me.

I've had a few (very few) issues with some of the 'cheaper' 22lr in my 10/22 but never any problems with CCI.

Like others have said, try different brands and feed the brand / type that your rifle likes best.

Same here.
For competition, from 50 feet to 200 yards, I prefer CCI Standard Velocity.
They have proven to provide me the most consistent accuracy in my 10/22s (and in my CZ452 as well).
