Federal 9mm HST JHP 'micro' 150 Grain

I've been hearing about and reading up (on-line) about the Federal HST Personal Defense ammo...and saw a box of the newer 150 Grain 'micro' HST JHP 9mm ammo at a Wal-Mart for $22.97...and picked it up for my wife to use in her H&K P2000SK sub-compact pistol.

My understanding is that this newer 'micro' 150 grain stuff is designed specifically for the compact pistols with a 3" barrel...and has lighter felt recoil than a +P would generate without sacrificing much in performance.

Anyone have any experience with this 150 grain 'micro' ammo?

How well does it shoot?

Felt Recoil?

Muzzle 'blast'...if much?

I grabbed a box for her to try...just curious as to what others think about it and if they've tried it?

Thanks ya'll...

GSR Fan is an unknown quantity at this point
It has lower recoil and a reduced flash, puts out about 260 ft pounds of energy at about 890 fps out of a 3" barrel. The bullet profile feeds well in auto loaders, but I would shoot some through your gun to make sure your gun likes it.

Standard pressure gets you around 940ish fps 290 ish ft lbs, +P gets you around 990ish fps 320ish ft lbs.

All penetrate about the same 12+ inches through denim.

If she can put the rounds on target better with the "micro" ammo then it's the best ammo.

It got excellent results out of a 3.5" barrel in Luckygunner's testing. All of the HST performed really well!

That's pretty much why I grabbed it for her...in switching the H&K P200SK (which just 'feels-better' in her grip) she's already cut her target pattern down to less than half what it was with the Glock 26 and Springfield XDm 3.8 at 15'. Me thinks a lighter-recoil bullet might just help to tighten the pattern even more as she won't have it to deal with the harsher felt recoil?

She really likes the lighter guns for EDC...but then sacrifices with felt recoil as a result. If this helps her manage the felt recoil aspect better, and her overall accuracy improves...accuracy is still one step ahead of penetration depth!

Because penetration differences were nominal as compared to the 147 grain standard and 147 grain +P version...I would rather see her accuracy improve over simply trying to find a heavy-hitter round for her!

I know for me, personally, I EDC a Glock 36 in .45 acp...and that pistol really likes the Remington Golden Sabre 185 JHP +P round...I can hold a sub-5" group at 21' / 7m consistently with an 1100 fps round generating 535 ft lbs of expendable energy...it just works!

My LGS is closer than Walmart.
HST in the semi-auto, PDX1 in the revolver.

I shot a few magazines of it from my SIG P250 SC no problems & it was was among the more accurate rounds I've tried. I didn't notice recoil being less but it's a 24.9 ounce pistol. Might be more noticeable in a lighter pistol.
