| White Box .223 Ammo Made in Russia at Cabela's not Wolf Ammo!
Hey guys I have a question, first of all I have tried only 40 rounds of this stuff in my Mini 14. No malfunctions seemed to work ok. I bought some on sale for $4.99 per box of 20. There is a fellow who now is selling the same stuff in a quantity of 400 rounds for $95.00 that equals $4.75 per box of 20! Has anyone shot a larger quantity of this stuff thru their Mini 14 with any bad results? I am thinking of getting alteast 200 rounds of it but I do not want to do any harm to my Mini 14 it does say on the box's Made in Russia 55 gr fmj's steel cased with a polymer coating. I would very much appreciate any feed back like I mentioned I have only shot 40 rounds thru my Mini 14.

Shoot it, clean it, and shoot it some more.

I don't run it them in my ARs as when the 'brass' got hot the coating had continued to transfer to the inside of my barrel and built up. Once it's cooled, it's not something that came off w/ normal cleaning and ended up causing FTE problems. I don't shoot it anymore. I'm not sure if the Mini's are succeptable to this problem, so good luck getting good info first.

I've ran a lot of Wolf steel case, polymer coated?? through my Mini, and never had a problem. I'm assuming this is the same/similar ammo. I have heard of people with complaints similar to Buckeye, and I don't know if I never ran it hot enough to have a problem or what. I would say that the solvent used 99% of the time to clean after shooting was Hoppe's Barrel Blast for Semi-Auto's. No problems. I should also say that I probably never ran more than a couple of hundred rounds through it at a pop. Maybe it builds up more after a long hard session.

Polymer coating not the same as lacquer coating. Polymer cures the lacqure/heat problem.

| Cheap .223 ammo at Cabela's
Well took a trip to Cabela's today bought 5 box's of the cheap Russian made ammo I was describing they have it onsale again for $4.99 a box of 20 rounds. The guy that had his ammo adertised well he must have decided he wanted to sell all 400 rounds in bulk which is fine with me no biggie! I have looked at this ammo closely and it states right on the box that its polymer coated. All I can say is I have shot 40 rounds of the stuff with no ill effects. I will do what LMP has said and should be fine clean the gun after shooting! So guys if you want some cheap 5.56 or .223 Rem ammo Cabela's has the Russian made stuff for $4.99 a box! I think that Cabela's should pay me a comission for advertising Ha Ha Ha!!!! |
