MKII and the Golden Bullets

Went to the range today and shot my MKII. About 350 rounds. I will be glad to get through this lot of Remington Golden Bullets. The lot number is F20ZB1234. I had two 550 ct boxes and had many duds and FTEs. About 30 rounds had to be reloaded to shoot and had 7 rounds that were just duds. I've shot many types of rounds from different manufacturers and this is the most problems I've ever had.

Anybody else have problems with Golden Bullets?

I still had a good time at the range. lol

Everybody has trouble with Golden Bullets.
They were very good in the old days but the current stuff is absolute junk.
The last box that I bought had many misfires, loose bullets, and some cases crushed so that they would not even chamber.
After buying Remington for 40 years, I'm all done with them for good.

I use the Federal 36gr - 550 rd bulk pack stuff now.
It works fine in my MKII.
I also found the Federal auto match 325 rd bulk pack ammo was reliable and very accurate but I have not been able to find any for a long time now.

I bought my first (and last) box of those about a month ago and had the same results running them in a single six and a winchester 190. Very inconsistent. You can hear the difference between one cartridge and the next. One I shot from the single six barely had enough in it to make it to the 25yard target board, bounce off it and fell straight to the ground. It was like I tossed a pebble instead of firing a round.

I'm finished with remington, their ammo sucks and is expensive in almost all calibers. Rem UMC .45ACP 230FMJ 50rnd box- 19$ Federal .45ACP 230FMJ 50rnd box (higher quality than rem)-15$ Black hills 230FMJ 50rnd box- 46$!!!!!

I ask how could prices be this spread?

Bought a box a couple years back....works just fine for me. Ive ran CCI blazer, remington gold, SK Jakd, CCI Green tag and never really had a problem with any of them. Last trip to our gun club I picked up 500 CCI standard velocity to try out.

Remington Golden Bullets

At first I didn't buy into all the Remmy GB bashing, as I had an older batch of them and had excellent results. Not so with the last purchase, when these are gone, no more. Last week I had 12 duds out out of 150 rounds. Even tried to re-cycle them, nothing. Lot number is G24AC1236.

I am using the last of my RGB's, but I have ran them through all my 22's for years and I never had the problems that most people are talking about. I now have switched to the Fed 550, and 375 for plinking.

Sad to hear. I'm still shooting some of the case of Golden Bullets I bought many years ago. They all work properly.

The Golden Bullets function ok in my Walther P22 and my S&W 317. But will not work in my Savage 22 rifle. I can live with a few miss fires for the price.

I just recently bought 2 boxes of the Remington Golden Bullets in the bulk pack and have shot up one of the boxes. I had 10 fail to fire in my MKIII and 2 of them fail to fire in my 10/22.
