Daaaaaaaaaaaah - lets see $0.60 per round of 223 or $0.04 a round for 22LR, what do you think people will be buying up to shoot??? Besides, let's not forget our friends with 22LR pistols.

I have no problem whatsoever with people buying up large quantities of any caliber of ammo IF they are going to shoot it or IF they want to have a little bit of a backup supply on hand.

I do have a problem with people who buy up everything they can find on the shelves so that they can have an arsenal in their basement or to resell at a ridiculous profit. These people create the problems we have seen lately where ammo shelves are bare and other shooters cannot buy the ammo they need. This is where we become our own worst enemies.

Buy what you need, by all means, but once you have done so, leave some for others who still need ammo, too.

The "expensive" 22s are stacked up on the shelves, but plinking ammo is all sold out at our Wal Mart.

Went to WalMart ( N. Illinois) last Wednesday and they had a dozen Federal bulk packs. I picked up two of them. They also had a good supply of .223 and shotgun shells. They also had a 40rd value pack of Winchester 7.62X39. I went back three days later to pick up the 7.62X39 (quickest way to get reloadable brass) and they still had a lot of the Federal bulk packs left and even had some 9mm and 40 S&W value packs on the shelves. Haven't seen ammo last that long on the shelves in a while.

I visited three stores in the past couple of days down in central Florida (two Walmarts and Gander Mountain). Only GM had any .22LR ammo of any kind and all they had was a few boxes of very high-end stuff that was expensive. They also had only high-end .40 stuff that was also very expensive. Walmart had squat!

No purchases made by me. I'll wait for some bulk stuff to show up, again.

here in southern california 22lr is very hard to find. I talked to a walmart and they only received 4 bricks in a whole shipment, I was lucky to get one. Some gun stores have it but they are outrageous prices. One place wanted $50 for a brick.

Be patient. It is starting to come into San Diego in greater supply. The price in the gun shops is coming down as well because they are finally getting it in. Wal-Mart got several cases of Federal bulk in the last two weeks as well as other calibers. It’s slow but things are improving.

You have Turner’s Outdoorsman stores close to you (I believe). Check them out as they have been also setting more supplies and their prices are acceptable. Also check Big 5.

It would be nice to get back to normal. I guess that everyone is buying up Health Ins now instead of guns. Guns will be in great supply, but health insurance does seem to be in danger of going away. (LOL)

I think the days of $10.00 bricks are over, though. I recently bought a brick of W/W Super X hollow points, and it cost me $32.00.
I thought this post was interesting. Note the date it was posted.

A month ago I got a 525 brick of Winchester HP .22 LR for $15.95 at Academy. It can be had if you get lucky. I saw 'em put it in the shelf, it was there for a total of about 10 seconds.

That is about 3 cents a round. Best I've done in the last month is 4 cents for some Winchester M-22's.

Yes we were in the same boat in 2009 and people were saying the same things. This is the only thread I dug up from the past but there were several posts back then addressing the same issue. Good reading if anyone is interested.
