It"s Happened again!!!

Went by the local WM this AM and all the talk of an increase in ammo prices has come to fruition. WWB value pack of .45acp $39.97 Thats another 3 bucks above the last price increase. We're getting to .40 cents a round.Thats getting almost half the cost of some rifle cartridges. It's just disgustipating...

Supply and demand I guess. Just received my ammo order from Cabela's, just about the same as Walmart. Ordered Remington UMC megapacks in 9mm and .45 cal. $65 and $104.
Walmart is a little cheaper on the 9mm, but by the time I pay taxes it's the same as Cabela's. I save a little bit at Cabela's (free shipping and no sales tax) though.

Assuming a 9mm mega pack is 250 rounds that's 26 cents per round.

A lower cost alternative: 1000 rd case - 9mm Luger Aguila 124 grain FMJ ammo | SGAmmo.com

About 21.5 cents per round if you buy a 1,000 round case (I figured in shipping & optional insurance). Having used both, I'd have to give the edge to Aguila (made in Mexico, so you can learn Spanish on one side of the pack, English on the other side). Though both do a perfectly fine job of putting holes in paper.

Went by the local WM this AM and found something interesting, that they now are selling Hornady ammo at this WM... Unfortunately....it happens to be the inane "Zombie" ammo. They had it in .223 and .45acp.I'm hoping that they made a deal with Hornady to sell they're real ammo in WM's. Other than that they had mucho WWB value packs of .45acp for "ugh" $39.97 and plenty of 9mm and .40 value packs. They also have a new brand calle PPU.I havn't heard of this brand but it was a little cheaper than the Tulammo.I assume that it is probably as bad or worse than the aforementioned brand...

*sigh* went by the local Wallyworld yesterday. Completely out of .45, .40, 9mm, .223, and .308. they had some of the oddball (to me) calibers, but nothing that I shoot.

So my walmart usually has a HUGE stock of ammo. Went by yesterday and they were cleaned out hard. Still had plenty of rimfire and rifle ammo. But the handgun section had been picked over hard.

I haven't had a need to buy ammo except for 38 SPL and I got that at my lgs. I now have a couple 12 guage shotguns that need feeding though. I'll need to make a wally run.

Was in the local WM yesterday and they did a complete redo of the ammo case. They now carry Federal "Hydroshock" ammo in .45acp/.45 colt/9mm.The prices were in the $24.95 range as opposed to the Winchester PDX1 that runs in the $29.95 range. They are also carrying Hornady "Zombie" ammo in .223/9mm.They actually had some WWB in .45colt which I haven't seen there in quite awhile. The price on WWB value packs have stayed steady since the last hike.No big jumps on price this trip, thank God...lol

OK so this morning I went to "another" local WM (cause I got real tired of the original WM that this thread was started with.Store and mgmnt has gone to the crapper.) This one is a much newer store updated and such and they have a much better selection of ammo.I found and picked up a few boxes of the Federal Champion .45acp value packs for $28.97 a box.Now this is $3.00 more than my original WM but they had them in stock. The nearest manufacturer WWB value packs retailed at $39.97 per pack.$10.00 a box savings is great in my book.I think this store is a keeper most of the other prices were better than the old store also...

I buy most of my ammo at Wal Mart except when I buy in bulk and the local store has always had plenty. One store sells the dreaded black rifle now!! Closest store to me quit selling guns about two years ago but put them back in this year.

BTW did you know Wal Mart can order any gun you want for you? Theres a web site for all the guns except hand guns. They are a lot lower priced to. Usually takes about a week to get one.

That's a great price on Federal bulk 45.
I have a brand new Walmart by me & they are always out of Federal bulk.
The 1st few days they opened I went & they had 1 box(100) of 9mm for $19.97.
Before they closed the old store they did not have it for months.

Went by there this AM and bought the last 2 boxes of the .45acp value packs they had. This store being new must not be on the radar of gun people cause the supply has been pretty steady.Hope they get some more of that Federal .45 value packs in...

My home town WM is mostly hit or miss throughout the year except during mid September - late October, as our firearms big game season, (deer & hog), opens up and right after Thanksgiving through the end of the year for Christmas.Outside of those two periods it's pretty much the luck of the draw.

It really is a shame WM can't be more consistent with their ammo inventory as their prices are fairly good compared to the two LGS's here, their closest big box store competition is 40 miles away in any direction and this is a shooting & hunting community so the demand is there...I don't know, go figure
